We’re proud to announce that Alabama Shipyard has been selected as a recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Critical Suppliers Prize Competition!

As the only Alabama business among seven recipients nationwide, we’re honored to receive this award, which will support the modernization of our shipyard, improve efficiency, and expand our capabilities to better serve our customers and the U.S. maritime industry.

We look forward to putting this investment to work to expand U.S. manufacturing capacity, strengthen critical supply chains, and support the U.S. Maritime Industrial Base (MIB).

WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the winners of its first-ever Critical Suppliers Prize Competition, awarding more than $18 million in non-dilutive prize funding to seven small businesses.

A milestone for Alabama Shipyard and the Port of Mobile.

This week, Alabama Shipyard successfully launched AFDM 15 from Dry Dock Alabama, marking the largest vessel launch in Mobile's history.

At 694 feet in length and approximately 12,000 tons, AFDM 15 was carefully transferred onto Dry Dock Alabama before launch. Executing a project of this scale required extensive planning, precision, and coordination every step of the way.

As the only shipyard facility in Mobile capable of launching a vessel of this size, Alabama Shipyard is proud to provide the expertise and infrastructure needed to support some of the maritime industry's most complex operations.

A huge thank you to our team for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication in making this historic launch a success.
