Austal USA’s Rising Star Award recognizes team members quarterly who have been with the company for two years or less and have already demonstrated exceptional performance and made a meaningful impact.

Austal USA is proud to recognize Mallory Dennis, Payroll Lead, as the recipient of the non-production Rising Star Award. Since stepping into her role, Mallory has quickly mastered her new responsibilities while also supporting the transition and training of her successor in Finance. Her attention to detail, dependability, and commitment to excellence played a key role in the success of a recent third-party finance audit. In addition to her technical strengths, Mallory is recognized for creating a collaborative work environment and strengthening connections across departments.

We are also proud to recognize Reginald Todd, Logistics Associate I, as the recipient of the production/production support Rising Star Award. Since joining the operations support team in Saraland, Reginald has improved warehouse and material tracking processes, helping achieve record-setting accuracy. A major milestone for Austal USA and the future of undersea manufacturing.

Today, we hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Phase 1 of our new Module Manufacturing Facility 3 (MMF3). Built under contract with General Dynamics Electric Boat, this purpose-built facility is dedicated to submarine module production and reflects our continued partnership to strengthen the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base. Together, we are expanding the industrial capacity needed to support the construction of the nation’s next-generation submarines.

With 390,000 square feet of indoor manufacturing space, MMF3 will play an important role in supporting the U.S. Navy’s goal of delivering one Columbia-class and two Virginia-class submarines each year.

MMF3 will be operational by late 2026, increasing Austal USA’s capacity to meet the growing demands of the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base and strengthening our ability to deliver critical capabilities to the fleet.

A special thank you to G.A. West & Co., Inc. and Thompson Engineering for their partnership, collaboration, and dedication in bringing this project to life. We appreciate the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in reaching this important milestone.

We look forward to seeing MMF3 come online and the impact it will have in supporting the U.S. Navy’s submarine construction mission for years to come.

Austal USA was honored to welcome Ms. Amber Stein (CG-SEA), Rear Admiral Hickey, Deputy Commandant for Systems, U.S. Coast Guard, and members from their team to our Mobile, AL shipyard.

During their visit, Austal USA leadership provided an overview of our operations before leading a tour of our modern manufacturing facilities. Guests saw firsthand the skilled workforce, advanced technologies, and innovative production processes that support the construction of vessels for our Nation's defense. The group also had the opportunity to view the Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) modules currently under construction in our final assembly bay, gaining insight into the progress being made on a program that will play a critical role in the U.S. Coast Guard's future fleet.

Engagements like this help strengthen collaboration between industry and government while providing transparency into the work being done to deliver mission-ready capabilities. Austal USA is proud to support the U.S. Coast Guard's modernization efforts through the construction of the OPC program and other critical maritime assets. Together, we are helping build the next generation of vessels that will enhance maritime security and support Coast Guard missions for decades to come.

In 2022, Austal USA expanded the Module Manufacturing Facility to support steel manufacturing with the addition of a fully automated steel panel line.

The process begins with plasma cutters shaping steel plates to size. From there, plates are welded to precise specifications and assembled into ship modules using lean manufacturing principles.

Today, Austal USA has built modules for more than 35 vessels in the MMF and is currently producing modules for seven steel ships simultaneously.

Once modules are approximately 85% complete, they are transported to final assembly bays where they become completed vessels.

Efficient production. Precision manufacturing. Accelerated delivery.

At Austal USA, safety is the foundation of every milestone we achieve. During National Safety Month, we recognize the teams across our shipyard who execute complex work every day with precision, accountability, and a shared commitment to protecting each other.

From construction and launch through sea trials, our craftsmen, test and activation teams, crane and rigging crews, and safety professionals work together to ensure every evolution is completed the right way — safely and successfully.

Operational excellence starts with a culture where every team member is empowered to speak up, take ownership, and lead by example. That commitment keeps our people safe and our programs strong.

Eighteen years ago, Austal USA broke ground on its first Module Manufacturing Facility (MMF) — an 8.5-acre, fully enclosed production space designed to transform shipbuilding efficiency.

The impact was immediate: productivity improved by more than 30% in the facility’s first year.

Originally designed as two aluminum moving module assembly lines, the MMF includes:
• 37 overhead gantry cranes
• Digital pulse welding
• A closed-loop argon delivery system

Today, the facility continues to support simultaneous outfitting, structural work, and systems integration before modules move to final assembly.

Modern shipbuilding starts here.

Ever wonder how modern ships are built faster without sacrificing quality?

At Austal USA, the answer is modular shipbuilding.

Instead of constructing one vessel from the keel up in a single location, large ship sections — called modules — are built simultaneously for multiple vessels at once.

Inside Austal USA’s 850,000 SF Module Manufacturing Facility, structural work, outfitting, and systems integration happen at the same time before final assembly even begins.

The result? A smarter, more efficient way to build complex ships for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.

Smarter build. Stronger ships. Faster delivery.
