Upcoming Film Festival: Azalea Film Festival Returns to Mobile on September 19 at noon at the Crescent Theater. Founded in 2016, the Azalea Film Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to celebrate independent filmmakers and give them the opportunity to see their work on the big screen in front of a live audience. After four successful seasons, the festival was forced to pause due to the COVID pandemic. This year marks the festival’s first year back and its fifth festival season.
The Azalea Film Festival welcomes 22 selected independent films from all over the world. Net proceeds from the festival will support autism-related programs, resources, and activities across the Gulf Coast. The festival’s mission is to help families and small local organizations that provide meaningful support to individuals and families affected by autism. Support may include therapy assistance, communication tools for nonverbal individuals, sensory-friendly activities, educational programs, workshops, and other resources that help families in need.
