Your glass can get a second life as sand! ♻️

At the Mobile County Recycling Center, recycled glass is pulverized into sand that can be used in construction projects throughout our community. 🏖️

Since October 2025, the Recycling Center has provided more than 250,000 pounds of recycled sand for use across Mobile County. That's thousands of pounds of material diverted from the landfill and put back to work in a meaningful way. 🌎

Every bottle and jar recycled helps support a cleaner, more sustainable future. Thank you for doing your part to recycle and protect our community. 💚

♻️Recycle Your Glass at the Mobile County Recycling Center! ♻️

Our Glass Pulverizer from Andela Products is transforming old glass bottles into clean, usable sand, and we’re loving the results! 🍾

The best part? No more sorting by color. Clear, green, and brown glass all go into the pulverizer together and pure sand comes out. That sand will be used by Mobile County in construction projects, giving a new life to old glass bottles.

One bottle at a time, we’re building a cleaner, greener, more sustainable future for our community. 🌍

The Mobile County Recycling Center operated by Goodwill Gulf Coast sees over 450 cars a day dropping off recyclables! 🌎

We can recycle your Paper, Cardboard, Plastic #1-7, Glass, Aluminum, Steel, Plastic bags, Clothing, Electronics, and Small Appliances. There's also a flag retirement box, and bucket for collecting soda can tops for the Ronald McDonald House. 🌿 Check our website for a printable list of accepted materials. www.mobilerecycles.com/accepted-items

Take a tour of the Recycling Center with Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson and Troy Salter, the center's director.

The tour included checking out the new glass pulverizer. Funded by a $200,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), the equipment can process 500,000 pounds of glass each year, turning old bottles into safe, smooth sand for use in Mobile County projects.

The best part? 🍾 No more color sorting. Residents can now drop off clear, green, and amber glass in a single bin. It's the only free glass recycling in Mobile County. The recycling center is owned by the Mobile County Commission and operated by Goodwill Gulf Coast.
