THINK BEFORE YOU SHARE: Back to School Photos

Back to school photos are filling social media feeds everywhere, often revealing personal information about your child. This information - school name, classroom, grade, age, etc. - can all be used by predators, scammers, and other people looking to endanger your child, family, or finances.

No matter your privacy settings or friends list, its best to keep personal information on the internet to the bare minimum.

Don't share:
❌ School name
❌ Age
❌ Teacher's name and grade
❌ Identifying features (height, weight, etc.)
❌ Overly personal information (think items related to passwords or security question answers, etc.)

Celebrating 10 Years of Service!

10 years ago, today, ALEN was formed with the mission of understanding the challenges law enforcement departments and their officers face daily and how it can develop modern, secure, and affordable solutions to solve them. What began as an internet accessible solution for access to DMV and criminal history information has evolved into a comprehensive, cloud-based platform that also provides integrated solutions for computer aided dispatch (CAD), records management (RMS), NIBRS reporting, eCitation, and instant messaging.

In 2011, when ALEN was incorporated, the idea of law enforcement adopting cloud-based technology was in its infancy and seemed like a pipe dream. However, as I reflect on the accomplishments that ALEN has made over the years it is amazing to see how our cloud-technology is being adopted by law enforcement throughout the United States. Knowing where ALEN has been, and what is to come, I cannot be more excited for what the next 10 years will bring.

The pandemic has changed a lot for everyone this year but it hasn't stopped ALEA Troopers from safely delivering teddy bears to children who are hospitalized.

Rather than visit patients at Children’s of Alabama, in Birmingham, area troopers dropped off bears at an off-site location called the Sugar Plum Shop, which accepts donations and provides parents of hospitalized children with an opportunity to visit and select gifts for their children.

Pictured in Monday's drop-off: ALEA Troopers Justin O’Neal, Jamal Bouyer and Cpl. Chad Nalls.

Jennifer Beard submitted this article and this picture. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!

While out on a check the well-being call yesterday (November 12), our Community Mental Health Liaison (CMHL) Jennifer Beard snuck this picture of Deputy Greg Stegall channeling his inner Gordon Ramsey. While at the home, the two learned the individual was recovering from surgery and had not eaten in a couple of days, so while Jennifer began making calls to get the individual some assistance, Deputy Stegall prepared something to eat. The individual declared it the best omlette they had ever eaten!
Not pictured are the dog, cats and horses that Deputy Stegall and Jennifer made sure were fed and watered before their departure.

COVID-19 is having a devastating effect on law enforcement. Officers, unable to socially distance or sequester, are falling victim to the virus in tragic numbers. To honor these officers in a timely manner, we need the help and attention of every agency with a fatality to report.

As soon as possible, agencies must submit the Officer Data Form for the fallen officer to be included in the next inscription in 2021. https://bit.ly/3eUyBeN

We need your help to honor them.
