As the sacred month of Ramadan gently departs, may the light it brought into our hearts remain with us always. May Eid bring you and your loved ones endless joy, peace, and countless blessings. Let us carry forward the spirit of kindness, patience, and faith.

Eid Mubarak to you all — may your hearts be as full as the crescent moon and your days as bright as the rising sun.

What Trump's executive orders on immigration seek to do:

- End birthright citizenship for future children born to mothers who are in the United States unlawfully or temporarily unless the child’s father is here legally and permanently

- Direct federal agencies to identify countries that do not provide sufficient information on their nationals and to bar those nationals from entry to the U.S.

- Send the military to the border by declaring a national emergency

- Halt all refugee admissions into the United States until policy “aligns” with U.S. interests

- Designate cartels and migrant gangs MS-13 and Tren de Aragua as foreign terrorist organizations

- Restrict federal funds from sanctuary cities and potentially take legal action against them

- Require immigrants unlawfully in the United States to register and be fingerprinted

- End the CBP One program and the parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans

- Deny public benefits to unauthorized immigrants

- Reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy

The orders include declaring a national emergency to deploy military personnel to the border, suspending refugee resettlement and ending birthright citizenship.

USCIS Extends Certain Fee Exemptions and Expedited Processing for Afghan Nationals

Today, in continued support of Enduring Welcome, and by congressional directive, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced it is extending and expanding some previously announced filing fee exemptions and expedited application processing for certain Afghan nationals. This will help Afghan nationals continue to resettle and, in many cases, reunite with family in the United States. It will enable USCIS to more quickly process requests for long-term status, status for immediate relatives, and associated services, helping our Afghan allies and other Afghans at risk integrate in their new home.

Afghan nationals paroled into the United States on or after July 30, 2021, are eligible for the following fee exemptions and streamlined processing through the dates listed:

Fee Exemptions

Extended through Jan. 31, 2025

Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, filed by an Afghan national for re-parole and associated renewals of employment authorization or Employment Authorization Documents (EADs).
Extended through Sept. 30, 2025

Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, filed from inside the United States for any Afghan national beneficiary with an immigrant visa immediately available.
USCIS Immigrant Fee for Afghan nationals.
Permanent due to the final fee rule

Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, filed by Afghan nationals seeking to adjust status to lawful permanent resident based on Afghan special immigrant classification.
Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, filed for an Afghan national holding a special immigrant visa.
Expiring Sept. 30, 2024

Form I-601, Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility, filed for any Afghan national who is the beneficiary of an approved Form I-130 with an immigrant visa immediately available.
Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, filed by any Afghan national who is applying for an initial or replacement EAD based on being paroled in the United States under section 212(s)(5) of the INA (eligibility category (c)(11)).
Expedited Processing

Extended through Jan. 31, 2025

Form I-131 filed by Afghan nationals for re-parole applications and requests to renew employment authorization or EADs.
Extended through Sept. 30, 2025

Form I-485 filed by Afghan nationals seeking to adjust status to lawful permanent resident based on Afghan special immigrant classification or based on asylum. (Expedited processing based on asylum is new.)

Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, filed by certain Afghan parolees as described in section 2502(a) of the Extending Government Funding and Delivering Emergency Assistance Act.

Form I-130 filed in the United States for an Afghan national beneficiary with a visa immediately available.

Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Workers, filed for an Afghan national beneficiary with a visa immediately available.

Reuniting with Your Parents: A Journey of Love and Togetherness

Are you a U.S. citizen dreaming of bringing your parents to live with you in the United States? As a licensed immigration consultant, I understand the deep emotional significance of reuniting with your loved ones. Let’s make this heartfelt journey a reality together.

Eligibility Requirements: To sponsor your parents, you must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years old. Unfortunately, Green Card holders cannot sponsor their parents for permanent residency.

Required Documentation: The process involves submitting Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, along with supporting documents such as your birth certificate and proof of your U.S. citizenship. Each parent requires a separate petition.

Financial Sponsorship: You will also need to demonstrate that you can financially support.

Consular Processing: If your parents are outside the U.S., they will go through consular processing at a U.S. embassy or consulate in their home country. This includes an interview and medical examination.

The Joy of Reuniting: Bringing your parents to live with you is more than just a legal process—it’s about rekindling the bonds of family and sharing precious moments together. Imagine the joy of celebrating birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments with your parents by your side.
