DON'T FALL FOR THE SAM SCAM: If you are a non-profit or public agency that is registered in the federal System for Award Management (SAM.gov) you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY to update your SAM.gov account each year. Is it free of charge, as is assistance with your renewal through FSD.gov. Local non-profits are being bombarded with emails from third party agents (Renewal Support, Registration Renewals, SAM Renewal Services, USBRSS, Registrations Plus) trying to scare them into paying to have their accounts updated. This gives the third party agent access to your SAM.gov account. Sadly, you will also be asked to pay anywhere from $500 to $800 for this "renewal" and the third party will have your credit card information.
If you get an email like this and are unsure if it is legit, please forward to me at [email protected] and I will be happy to review it for you for free.

This past year, I've written quite a few federal grant proposals to address critical issues in Stanislaus County. I am pleased that several of them were fully funded beginning October 1, 2019. The largest grant is this $1.2 million award to Stanislaus County to address Opioid addiction and treatment in Stanislaus County by enhancing the efforts of the existing CARE Team.

Modesto, CA – Representative Josh Harder (CA-10) today announced a federal investment of $1,200,000 to allow Stanislaus County to expand its Community Assessment, Response, and Engagement (CARE) team by hiring a public health nurse, substance use clinician, and a project coordinator to buy recover...

The CA Office of Child Abuse Prevention announced this morning that a 36-month $1.8 million grant proposal I wrote for Stanislaus County's Health Services Agency was one of 12 proposals funded statewide! It was a super competitive grant process. Once implemented in Stanislaus County, it will reduce substance exposure to infants, strengthen supports for pregnant women with known histories of substance use, pregnant women with current substance use, mothers of substance-exposed infants, and their families, and mitigate negative outcomes associated with prenatal and perinatal substance use. YAY!!!!!

I don't toot my own horn a lot, but I am BEYOND excited about 3 major DOJ grants I wrote that were recently funded: OVW Arrest Program ($650,000), OVW Legal Assistance for Victims ($400,000), and the COPS Program ($1,000,000 that I co-wrote with Karen Rabb at MPD) and is featured in this article from McClatchy's Washington Bureau. It was also featured in The Bee last week.

In the next few months, every high school in Modesto, Calif., might get its own designated cop to help keep students safe – and it’s far from alone nationwide.

Some great end of year news! I was notified 5 weeks ago that the DOJ Children Exposed to Violence grant I wrote for Haven Women's Center, Stanislaus Family Justice Center, and Children's Crisis Center was funded for $400,000. Then yesterday I found out the Cal EMA Law Enforcement Specialized Units Program grant I wrote for the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Dept, Modesto PD, District Attorney, Haven, and SFJC was funded for $469,818! It will provide a coordinated response to victims of domestic violence and their children. YAHOO! http://www.modbee.com/2011/12/28/2003885/stanislaus-county-nonprofit-notches.html

A nonprofit that gives hope and help to abuse victims got a nice holiday gift Wednesday with news of a substantial state grant, Stanislaus County District Attorney Birgit Fladager said.

Two neat things happened today! Submitted a $415,507 proposal to fund Food Stamp Outreach and Enrollment Services for Sierra Vista Child & Family Services, and Healthy Aging Association received their $35,000 funding payment from a grant I submitted to Kaiser Permanente in April.
