Imagine how much more a school or businesses could accomplish if all wasteful activities are reduced or eliminated. Nobody installs waste on purpose, it just happens over time.

Lean Unleashed is bringing a public school and businesses together through a hands-on workshop focused on continuous improvement, People First Leadership, and identifying the hidden waste that slows organizations down.

Waste has many sources:

Poor communication
Unclear processes
Repeated problems
We have always done it this way
Unclear value proposition
Poor full system visibility

Causing people to be frustrated and burnout

When teams learn how to recognize and reduce waste, they create stronger systems, better collaboration, and more time to focus on what truly matters — people.

This workshop helps participants develop practical skills in:

Problem solving
Systems thinking
Process improvement
Building a culture of continuous improvement

Small improvements can create major results when people work together with purpose.

Join Lean Unleashed and discover how reducing waste can create more value for schools, businesses, and the entire community.

What happens when schools and businesses put people first?

Real impact.

Lean Unleashed is bringing together public schools and local businesses, one of the topics: People First Leadership—when you invest in people, everything else improves.

For schools:
✔ Empower teachers and staff
✔ Solve everyday challenges with confidence
✔ Less struggle and stress for everyone

For businesses:

✔ Strengthen leadership skills that actually stick
✔ Learn how to engage and develop your teams
✔ Give back in a way that creates lasting change

This isn’t theory—it’s hands-on learning focused on problem-solving, continuous improvement, and systems thinking that benefits everyone involved.

💼 Businesses gain additional real-world leadership tools while making a difference.

Most teams try to fix problems… without ever seeing the full system.

That’s where real improvement breaks down.

Lean Unleashed is hosting a School–Business Partnership Workshop and systems thinking is on the agenda. Help your teams step back, see the bigger picture, and solve problems at the root.

Sign up today, before the limited spots are filled.

In this hands-on workshop, your team will work alongside a public school to learn how to:
• See how processes connect across people and departments
• Identify hidden inefficiencies and bottlenecks
• Understand cause-and-effect within a system
• Build sustainable, long-term improvements—not quick fixes

This can be a free service to the School District, and your business joins them in a shared learning experience that builds real-world capability.

This isn’t theory.

It’s learning to think differently—so your team solves problems more effectively back at work.

✔ Stronger decision-making
✔ Better cross-team collaboration
✔ Smarter, system-level improvements

Theory meets reality!

Last week I had the amazing privilege of presenting at the University of Vermont for students that are in the National Society of Leadership and Success. As part of this I was able to facilitate a panel discussion with four local leaders, John Rodgers, Lt. Governor of Vermont, Steven Gagner, MBA, Professor and Entrepreneur (You have to see what he and the 14th star brewery have started in St. Albans, VT), Michael Costa, CEO of Gifford Healthcare, and David Kaufman Professor and Entrepreneur.

In the session we talked about Leadership not being a title, it is a set of values and behaviors. We also discussed the importance of knowing your current state, where you want to go and how to get there.

During the panel discussion these gracious and generous leaders shared very openly, humbly and freely their knowledge and real-life experiences. It was amazing to me how different each of their journeys have been but how aligned the basic fundamentals of how they view leadership are.

The students also impressed me very much, with great questions and full engagement, in the presentation, the roundtable and in the hour-long conversation that ensued afterwards.

This event really filled my cup; I get so much energy when I can serve others. I am also optimistic based on how the panelists conducted themselves and the students engaged, that there are some real lasting impacts leaving the room.

A special thanks to Calysta Koppenhaver and Ian Cox and the members of the E-Board for the society for the amazing work you put in to create this opportunity for the members.

Every great business, every strong team, every thriving community relies on the same fundamentals:

Reduce waste. Improve flow. Solve problems. Build people. Intentional Culture. Servant Leadership

These aren’t “corporate strategies.”
They’re human strategies and our public schools deserve access to them just as much as any Fortune 500 company.
On July 9th, Lean Unleashed is hosting a full‑day Continuous Improvement workshop at Schuylkill Haven High School.
Local businesses can attend at a special hometown rate, and if seats fill, the District receives the workshop for free.
This is how we lift a community together, with shared tools and shared purpose.

See the details and registration information below. Do not hesitate there are only 20 community seats available.

We all do it… we see a great free event, think “I should sign up,” and then somehow never click the button.
Meanwhile, opportunities to grow, learn, and connect just slide right past us.
On May 15, OCBE is offering something genuinely worth showing up for — and it costs nothing.
Don’t let this be another moment you meant to take advantage of.

This Week - Effective Communication - Deblurring

The Blurry example today.

The word IMPROVE

This one hits close to home and I deal with it every day. There are lots of reasons this one can cause frustration if you don't take the time to clarify.

Here are some key reasons why it is frustrating:

1- People value different things

2-Systems are complex and there can be unintended downstream effects

3-People have different ambitions, or optimism, might not consider a small improvement an improvement, only counts if it's big.

As you move forward try to find opportunities to say things like:

"What I mean by that is.... or What that means to me is ......"

Be curious beblur the words, you will be glad you did.

Need help, check us out at www.leanunleashed.com

This Week - Effective Communication - Deblurring

The Blurry example today.

The word BETTER

This one comes out often and can create mass chaos.

Today's example will not be the business world.

I am going to make our chocolate sundaes BETTER! Everyone is excited, who doesn't want a BETTER ice cream sundae? I proceed to add some crushed peanuts on top! Much BETTER for me, but what about the guy who has a peanut allergy.......Not So much.

When you or someone else uses the word BETTER, share or seek clarity.

I want us to get better and what I mean by that is........

When you said we should be doing better I take that to mean.......

Need help deblurring or figuring out where you are blurring reach out, www.leanunleashed.com
