ARE YOU TOO BUSY TO READ THIS?

Time is our most valuable asset. Without a doubt, it is also the single most common constraint I hear about from the people and teams I serve.

You might have noticed I’ve been quiet on here lately. Let me be perfectly clear: I didn't stop posting because I "didn't have time." I stopped because I had other priorities. My focus has been fully dedicated to serving people and teams in person. As anyone who has engaged in my coaching or attended one of my workshops can attest, being in the trenches with you is by far the most efficient and impactful way I can serve. Because I intentionally chose where my time was going, you never heard me complain about not having time to share on social media.

However, I also know that these posts allow me to reach and help a much larger audience. Right now, I have a brief lull in my workshop schedule, so I am pivoting back.

Over the last 2-3 weeks, two things happened:

1) Several of you reached out to say you missed seeing my posts (thank you!).

2) I heard an alarming number of people complaining that they "don't have the time," "lack the bandwidth," or whatever other excuse they wanted to plug in.

Consider this your warning to tune in next week for a major wakeup call.

I am revisiting an old series on time management, revamping it, and getting a lot more blunt. There were times in my life when I desperately needed a swift kick in the pants to get my priorities straight, and I know there will be times I’ll need it again.

So, next week, I am giving the gift of a kick in the pants to you.

You can have results or excuses, not both! The good news is you get to decide.

Training is not a countermeasure.

Too often, we treat a training session as a quick fix for a complex problem. When nothing changes, leadership throws their hands up: "I don't get it, we sent them to the training, didn't we?"

Think about how differently we approach "training" a dog. We don't put a puppy in a 60-minute seminar on obedience and expect it to heel perfectly for the rest of its life. Real training requires ongoing support, continuous correction, and relentless reinforcement in real-world scenarios.

Yet, we expect human beings to completely overhaul their habits after a single training.

A one-time event doesn't change behavior. People are served best by coaching—a continuous engagement built on joint ownership between the individual and the leader.

If we want real results, we have to stop using training as a checkbox to fix a problem, and start committing to the continuous coaching required to actually sustain change.

With the recent workshop being the first one of its kind, that I facilitated, I am getting lots of feedback and learning. The early feedback on the topics indicated that Waste Identification and Reduction and Structured Problem solving are the topics that people are most interested in. (see the data below) Of the list of topics which one would you want to know more about?

08/05/2026

I got some questions from yesterday's post about what works for schools and businesses. The basic fundamentals of success are the same regardless of the application. I have been getting feedback from the participants on value, including examples of application. I will share some of those out as they develop.

Here is the list of topics that were covered in the joint workshop:

1-A Short Lean History
2-System Thinking
3-Intentional Culture
4-What Good Looks Like (Communication, Leadership, Collaboration, Improving, Psychological Safety, Joy at Work)
5-Waste Identification and Reduction
6-Structured Problem Solving
7-Process and Flow

July was an amazing month. Near the top of the win list was my first Public School Continuous Improvement Workshop. A huge thanks to Shawn Fitzpatrick for trusting me with his team. I have been getting great feedback about the event and supporting the school and business participants though some improvements. It truly fills my heart with joy and gratitude to be able to serve others this way. I can't wait to see what the future brings. It all starts here and now. We had some great engagement, which made the day very fulfilling.

This is the message that kicked it all off:

For everyone, thank you for being the first group working with Lean Unleashed on this program, which began with a simple realization. While working on large corporate projects, team members from different events kept coming to me afterward saying things like, Our public schools need this, Can you get on a call and help us with…., Can you send the …..tool to use at our school, can you talk to our principal, superintendent, board and even a teacher’s union reached out. As I already knew, these same tools, these same philosophies, could help them too.”

I started helping a few schools, just small opportunities at first. I’ve always said our kids are the future, but I wasn’t doing much to support the systems responsible for shaping that future. That wasn’t alright with me.

Our public schools, and the people who pour their hearts into them deserve support, respect, and partnership. They deserve a community standing behind them. Connecting with Dr. Fitzpatrick opened the door to doing this at a larger scale and for a bigger purpose.

This workshop is built for a win‑win‑win:

A win for schools, coaching, tools, and support to reduce frustration, strengthen systems, and make daily work easier and more effective and at no cost.

A win for businesses, practical Lean fundamentals that improve culture, performance, and relationships that will show up in the bottom line.

A win for me, the chance to serve public schools with everything I’ve learned, while still supporting my family.

But the real win is bigger, broader and shared; stronger schools, stronger businesses, stronger communities.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for caring. Thank you for already giving so much. Today is about honoring that work and equipping you with tools that make your load lighter and your impact even greater.

Time isn’t up yet — but it’s getting close.

Registration closes June 13, 2026, and this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

The fundamentals of success are universal. They’re the same principles that help teams perform faster, cheaper, happier, and at higher quality, whether you’re in corporate America, a small family business, a nonprofit, a sports team, or a public school. Excellence plays by the same rules everywhere.

This full‑day, hands‑on workshop is your chance to elevate your organization with a modest investment, and at the same time, help bring these powerful tools to the local public school system at no cost to them.

Our schools deserve access to the same resources that fuel high‑performing companies.

If you believe in better systems, better teams, and a better future for our community, now is the moment to act.

Imagine how much more a school or businesses could accomplish if all wasteful activities are reduced or eliminated. Nobody installs waste on purpose, it just happens over time.

Lean Unleashed is bringing a public school and businesses together through a hands-on workshop focused on continuous improvement, People First Leadership, and identifying the hidden waste that slows organizations down.

Waste has many sources:

Poor communication
Unclear processes
Repeated problems
We have always done it this way
Unclear value proposition
Poor full system visibility

Causing people to be frustrated and burnout

When teams learn how to recognize and reduce waste, they create stronger systems, better collaboration, and more time to focus on what truly matters — people.

This workshop helps participants develop practical skills in:

Problem solving
Systems thinking
Process improvement
Building a culture of continuous improvement

Small improvements can create major results when people work together with purpose.

Join Lean Unleashed and discover how reducing waste can create more value for schools, businesses, and the entire community.
