HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO FORMER SHERIFF STEVE MAY: Today, March 9th, we honor a man who has spent over three decades as a cornerstone of the North Louisiana community. From the training grounds of Northeast Louisiana University and the North Delta Police Academy to the highest office of law enforcement in Caldwell Parish, his career has been defined by a steadfast commitment to public service.

As the former Sheriff of Caldwell Parish, he didn’t just hold a position; he carried the responsibility of protecting his neighbors in Columbia and across the region. His thirty years in law enforcement serve as a testament to his resilience and dedication to the rule of law.

On this special day, we reflect on the impact of his leadership and the many years he spent ensuring the safety and well-being of his neighbors.

Here's wishing a happy birthday to Steve May!

At this week's meeting of the West Monroe Board of Aldermen, two West Monroe Police Department Officers were presented with a Life Saving Award for their heroic efforts at a recent fire at a local apartment complex.

Cpl. Jacob Morgan and Officer Grayson Richardson were both presented with the award for their efforts to rescue two children who were trapped inside an apartment that had caught on fire.

During this week's City Council meeting, Police Chief Jason Pleasant spoke of their efforts to West Monroe Mayor Staci Albritton Mitchell and the Board of Aldermen and read a letter written by City of West Monroe Fire Department Chief Daniel Overturf commending their actions.
