A few weeks ago we put out a poll asking: What’s the biggest factor when considering a new job?
The results were interesting:
Salary: 33%
Flexibility: 27%
Company Culture: 24%
Growth Opportunities: 16%
Salary still came out on top..but just barely. What really stood out to us is that 67% of respondents chose something other than money.
For employers, that’s worth paying attention to. Compensation matters, of course, but candidates are looking at the bigger picture: How will this job fit into my life? What will it feel like to work there? Will I have opportunities to grow?
The best talent decisions, on both sides of the hiring equation, are rarely about just one thing.
So, a question to ponder: Are companies still recruiting for what candidates wanted five years ago, or what they value today?
