20 kg shoulder press. This is a weight that wasn’t possible for me just a few years ago. Who says you can’t get strong as the years go by? Consistency wins the day!

Every year on my birthday I do a Personal Best deadlift.

Today’s was 5 sets of singles, 240 lbs (this is the first).

Last year around this time I had a nagging hamstring injury. I determined to not let it stop me, and  I finally resolved it this year.

There is *nothing* more empowering than setting goals and driving towards them. There’s nothing more rewarding than continuing the journey of getting a little bit better every year.

And the journey of strength is a physical manifestation of that.

To lift heavier you have to handle mental blocks.

You have to work through setbacks.

And you have to show up with bone-crushing consistency, even when you don’t feel like it.

Real talk: I’m proud of what I’ve done so far. And I have a lot more to do.

Thank you for my incredible guides on the path, and

Just because I haven’t been posting doesn’t mean I haven’t been lifting! Consistency is everything! And seesaw presses are always fun!

Every Friday I share a question that you can use to catalyze some real talk over the weekend and to ponder yourself.

What question are you avoiding asking yourself?

For me, I think I might be avoiding asking myself the hardest questions about how I want to spend my time. I love doing a lot of things and the result is that I can spread myself too thin. Which means I don’t always have enough time for the most important things. So I think I need to get more rigorous with this question.

How about you? What question are you not facing, and what might you be able to do once you answer that question?

I get excited when I find out I’m wrong.

I learn something new, I hear a new perspective, and I stay open-minded.

Are you unintentionally taking out your frustration on one of your coworkers?

When I interviewed the genius marketing strategist Seth Godin, he said, "Relentlessly criticize the work. Never criticize the worker."

Seth’s point is simple: feedback should push for better results while respecting the individual. Criticizing the work is an invitation for improvement, but if feedback feels personal, it can shut that door.

This approach builds a culture of learning without damaging confidence.

It’s about being direct, but in a way that helps people get better without making them defensive.

Learn about this and so much more in my conversation with Seth on this episode of From Start-Up to Grown-Up:

Every Friday I share a question that you can use to catalyze some real talk over the weekend and to ponder yourself.

What part of your routine feels outdated and needs refreshing?

For me, I’ve been going through the motions writing in my journal lately and I need to revitalize that practice by re-thinking the journal prompts I use in the morning. I’m going to look through my list of journal prompts and find some ones that feel more juicy. If you have good ones, please leave them in the comments.

How about you? What change in your routine could be the catalyst for an interesting reframe or progress toward your goals?

Share it with all of us in the comments so we can all rejuvenate together!
