Do you use ? We all know recycling isn't THE answer to our problems, but it is PART of the answer given our current systems. With their mission to 'Recycle everything' they have a lot of free (and paid) programs.

I personally take advantage of the following programs

- Colgate free mail in dental program

- Little Bites free mail in program

- Gold Toe free mail in sock program

- Nordstrom free cosmetic drop off program

- Their paid plastic recycling box (look for deep discounts around Earth Day)

- The snack wrapper program - free if you drop off at a Subaru dealership

There have been questions raised if everything that gets sent in gets recycled and I'm sure there are issues. They have addressed it with external auditing. In the big picture I'm glad they are trying to change the industry by having corporations be part of the solution, pushing recycling technology and offering a solution for a complicated problem. They are also a NJ based company, so as a service that exists, I will use it and keep as much of my waste out of the incinerator in Newark as possible.

Not a paid partnership.

If you've been worried about the news about gas stoves both as a health risk and an environmental risk, electric appliances are a great way to cook if you're not ready to take the plunge to switch out your gas stove just yet.

Electrical appliances both use less power to do the same job AND, here in Northern NJ, our electrical supply is cleaner than using gas. For me though, I love the convenience of the 'set it and forget it' feature most have and couldn't live without my rice cooker in particular.

What electrical cooking appliances do you love? Have you got a single burner induction hob (I covet one of those!)? Let me know in the comments.
