The first Travel Restriction/Ban was issued under Obama, now Trump has done it. Like them or not the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) is one of the few resources helping the Iranian American community with this and have set up an online travel ban center in English or Farsi/Persian with resources/attys/know your rights/support to help at this link. bit.ly/4dPJHjY
With respect to Iranians, here's who this ban affects:
-The ban fully suspends entry into the U.S. of Iranian nationals.
-The ban is set to take effect on Monday, June 9, 2025.
-The ban will not apply retroactively to existing visa holders, and explicitly states that no visas already granted will be revoked on the basis of the order. The restrictions apply only to people outside of the U.S. as of June 4, 2025 who do not have a valid visa as of June 4, 2025.
-The ban makes exceptions for the following categories of people: legal permanent residents/green card holders, diplomats, dual nationals, professional athletes attending major sporting events, certain immediate relatives and adoptees with qualifying visas, Afghan and U.S. government-affiliated special immigrant visa holders, and a limited category of persecuted minorities from Iran.
Please share with anyone you know who has been affected.
