Thank you, California Association of Winegrape Growers, for allowing Monterey Wines to be part of this very successful trip. California wines and winegrape growers are clearly appreciated in Washington DC!
Last week, a delegation of growers and association staff traveled to Washington, D.C. to advocate on behalf of California winegrape growers. The group had productive conversations with key members of the California congressional delegation, U.S. Department of Agriculture officials, and other agricultural groups to discuss 2023 Farm Bill priorities, appropriation requests, and concerns regarding labor and water challenges.
The CAWG delegation had the opportunity to meet with several influential members, including Senator Alex Padilla, Congressman Mike Thompson, Congressman Jim Costa, Rep. Jimmy Panetta, Rep. Josh Harder, Representative Zoe Lofgren, Representative John Duarte, Congressman David G. Valadao, as well as agricultural staff from the offices of Senator Dianne Feinstein, Rep. Doug LaMalfa, and Congressman Jared Huffman.
CAWG Delegation Included: Tom Slater, Slater Farms; John Chandler, Chandler Farms; Chris Lynch, Walsh Vineyards Management; Dave Michul, Beckstoffer Vineyards; Jeff Bitter; Bill Berryhill, BB Vineyards; Amy Blagg, Lodi District Grape Growers; Kim Stemler, Monterey Wines; and CAWG President, Natalie Collins.
