Here's why you should vote for Ken Paxton and not John Cornyn.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has spent much of his tenure surrounded by controversy. From the 2015 federal securities fraud indictment to the 2023 impeachment proceedings involving allegations of bribery, abuse of office, and corruption tied to a political donor, the pattern is deeply troubling. Public officials are elected to serve the people, and unethical or criminal behavior undermines trust in both the office and the system itself.
As for his personal life — including allegations involving infidelity — that is ultimately between him, Angela, and God. Morality matters, but not every personal failing directly impacts the lives of Texans. The past behavior of the Attorney General is unfavorable to say the lease, but it does not affect your ability to find a job, pay your mortgage, take care of your family and be a productive citizen. Much of the public outrage surrounding politicians often becomes selective, depending on party loyalty rather than consistent principles.
Now let’s talk about policies that actually affect everyday people.
Senator John Cornyn has long supported expanding the H-1B visa program, calling it a valuable tool for bringing high-skilled workers into the United States, especially in STEM and technology fields. He has backed efforts to increase visa caps and reduce restrictions on the program while advocating for additional oversight.
At the same time, critics of the H-1B system argue that it has been used by some corporations to replace American workers with lower-cost labor. Reports over the years have highlighted situations where American employees were required to train foreign replacements and sign NDA's before being laid off in exchange for severance packages. Opponents argue the program can suppress wages and reduce opportunities for American graduates and experienced technology professionals.
Supporters counter that the program helps fill labor shortages and keeps the United States competitive in innovation and global business. This has been found to be not true. Studies have shown that many of these replacement workers are no more skilled than the Americans they are replacing.
For many Texans, the real concern is not political scandal headlines, but whether elected officials are protecting the long-term economic interests of American workers and future generations entering STEM careers.
Voters will ultimately decide whether Senator Cornyn’s approach to immigration and labor policy reflects their priorities for the future of Texas.
