Waugh-Mt Meigs Fire/Rescue

Last night, WMMFR was dispatched to a Fire in the area of cook station rd at wares ferry rd with confirmed smoke and flames by the caller. Upon arrival, Waugh crews were met with an extremely large brush fire that was a control burn.

Crews deemed it unsafe and out of control and decided to attempt to get control of the fire. Utilizing two hand lines and a deck gun, crews were able to contain the fire to its origin and not spread further into the woodline or surrounding areas.

No Injuries during the incident, great work guys!

25 Years Today, we remember September 11, 2001 a day that forever changed our nation.

We honor the 343 Firefighters, 60 Police Officers, 8 Private EMS, and 2,977 lives lost, the families who carry their memory, and the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and everyday citizens who answered the call with extraordinary courage.

May we never forget their sacrifice, their bravery, and the unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

From all of us at Waugh-Mount Meigs Fire / Rescue, we remember. We honor. We will Never Forget. 🇺🇸

Starting the month off strong! 🔥🚒

This week, we officially kicked off our Firefighter 160 course with 18 students representing departments from across our association. We look forward to watching each student grow as they continue their training and prepare to serve their communities. AAVFD Auxiliary

We also had the privilege of participating in National Night Out at Eastwood Villa. It was a wonderful evening spent connecting with members of the community alongside our local public safety partners. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the event such a success!

We will keep you guys updated on the upcoming firefighters during class!!
