Waugh and Shorter FD are on scene around MP 20, I85 SB on a tractor trailer fire. Southbound is shut down at this time. Please find an alternate route.

At approximately 7:44 am this morning, Shorter FD responded to a 2 vehicle accident I85 SB MP 24. Two trucks collided and came to rest on the shoulder of the highway in a water way. One driver was safely extricated from the vehicle in the water and transported for further medical care. The other driver received minor injuries. There were no life threatening injuries.

Waugh-Mt Meigs Fire/Rescue had the opportunity to sharpen our skills with Alabama Fire College’s Confined Space and Mobile Burn Trailers. A big shoutout to South Montgomery County VFD for training alongside us — teamwork and preparation make all the difference when the tone drops. 💪
