On Tuesday, the backdrop for Alabama Trucking’s newest music video production was a training yard in Bessemer, idling rigs, coupled trailers, and all, because nothing sells a trucking anthem quite like the real thing.

Heroes of the Highway spent the day on location at One-Stop CDL Training, filming the video ahead of the Sept. 13th release date. This year’s anthem cranks the amps up to early 2000s alt rock, think Foo Fighters or The Lemonheads, all power chords and a chorus built to be shouted out a cab window doing 65 down I-20.

Gov. Kay Ivey has endorsed the Trump administration’s sweeping federal crackdown on fraud, illegal operations and other abuses in commercial trucking — an effort that reflects priorities Alabama trucking leaders have pressed at both the state and national levels.

Alabama Trucking Association President and CEO Mark Colson credited Ivey and ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor with establishing Alabama as a national model for protecting responsible trucking businesses and professional drivers while holding illegal operators and other bad actors accountable.

A familiar face from Alabama Trucking Association meetings is asking voters closer to home for their support. Travis Williams, a Greenbush Logistics executive and member of the ATA Board of Directors, is running for the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) Board of Trustees, District 6. The seat is decided by mail-in ballot, with WEC set to send ballots to members in mid-September.

There are more than twice as many U.S. Senators than there are drivers certified to haul America’s transuranic nuclear waste.

A hundred seats in the Senate, one of the most elite political jobs in the country. Thirty-six drivers, nationwide, hauling drums of plutonium-contaminated debris to a salt bed 2,150 feet under the New Mexico desert.

A truck swerves to avoid a wreck on a Houston highway in September 2023. Someone from the other side of the highway is hit by another swerving passenger vehicle. Before anyone can determine who’s at fault, another lawsuit has been filed rejecting coverage and contesting responsibility. It’s a mess that has racked up discovery cost and lasted three years to date.

Whatever the coverage and liability questions eventually resolve to, both sides are paying lawyers right now over a crash from 2023. Discovery means depositions, document production, expert witnesses and motion practice, all billed by the hour. None of that spending compensates the injured motorist a dime sooner. None of it moves a single load of freight.
