Calling all competition teams!

Grab your crew---build your team the 2026 AAVFD Firefighter Competition is Saturday, June 13! This is your chance to compete and represent your . 2026 is going to be an exciting event. Firefighter competition is open to all firefighters and Cadets regardless where you are in your fitness journey. Events include air pack relay, water on the roof, and obstacle course.

Join us at the 49th Annual AAVFD Firefighter Conference in Muscle Shoals and cheer on our amazing taking the challenge for Alabama's top team!

Moores Mill Vol. Fire Rescue has been busy today responding to multiple incidents of people trapped in vehicles due to flooding.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to serving your community!

Today, our crews have responded to multiple incidents involving vehicles trapped in floodwaters.

If you encounter water covering a roadway, TURN AROUND — DON’T DROWN.

Never attempt to drive through flooded roads. The depth of the water may be impossible to judge, the roadway beneath may be washed away, and even a small amount of moving water can carry a vehicle off the road.

Under no circumstances should you drive around barricades or road closure signs. These closures are in place for your safety. Driving around them is not only extremely dangerous, but it is also illegal.

Please avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve. If you must be on the road, slow down, stay alert, and never take chances with floodwaters.

Your destination is not worth your life.

Alabama Firefighters— GET READY!
An unforgettable weekend is coming!

All events will be held at the North Alabama State Fairgrounds located at 65 Sportsplex Dr Muscle Shoals, Alabama

Training begins Thursday, June 11 for those who arrive early. Training opportunities are also Friday and Saturday. See Training Schedule for dates/times.

Conference schedule is complete. The banquet is Saturday evening at 6:30pm. Features keynote speaker Chris Stewart and Tracy Smith from Make-A-Wish for the reveal. A special event will be held after the closing of the banquet. Please bring a lawn chair for this event.

We look forward to seeing you next weekend!

Just 6 days until firefighters fill the North Alabama State Fairgrounds in Muscle Shoals for one of the biggest weekends in Alabama. Over 75 vendors, Friday night cookout, music by Joseph Baldwin, firefighter competition, firefighter training opportunities, petting zoo, inflatable bounce houses, firefighter banquet and more. We look forward to seeing you in Muscle Shoals on June 12-13.

Meet Austin, a passionate gamer whose wish to visit Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in California gave his family a moment of light during one of the hardest chapters of their lives. During treatment, Austin was tired, depressed, and scared, but learning his wish was coming true gave him something to hold onto. In the middle of it all, he told his mom, “I want to live.” 💙

After his wish trip, Austin said, “I’ve never felt more alive.” The experience sparked new confidence, a sense of adventure, and renewed hope for the future. Today, Austin has completed chemotherapy, rang the bell in June 2025, and is on track to graduate with the Class of 2026 at just 16 years old.

Stories like Austin’s show the life-changing impact a wish can have, replacing fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with hope for children facing critical illnesses and their families.

The 49th Annual AAVFD Firefighter Conference is 2 weeks away. The conference is June 12-13, 2026 and is hosted by Colbert County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments. All events will be held at the North Alabama State Fairgrounds located in Muscle Shoals.

One week to go! Time to get excited!

Colbert County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments is hosting the 49th Annual AAVFD Firefighter Conference!

Over 75 vendors are scheduled to be in attendance. In addition, there are 5 training opportunities including sonar class, bleed control class, chainsaw class, fireground communication and fire college props.

Saturday features the conference favorite, firefighter competition, annual business meeting and banquet. During banquet, the Firefighter of the Year and the Sherry Garner Memorial Award recipients will be announced along with the trophy presentation to the firefighter competition teams.

We look forward to seeing you in Muscle Shoals June 12-13.
