10 years ago, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life.
At the time, I was a 12-year tenured choral teacher with five degrees — secure, established, and doing what I had trained to do.
But I remember the moment things shifted.
My position was posted… and I was being led in a different direction.
And in that moment, I had a choice.
I could fight to hold onto what was familiar…
or I could trust that what was happening wasn’t a setback—it was a redirection.
I didn’t have all the answers.
I didn’t have a perfect plan.
But I knew there was more in me—and I couldn’t ignore it.
So I chose to move.
What I didn’t realize then was that what felt like disruption…
was actually the beginning of alignment.
And 10 years later, I’m still walking in that decision.
