As she always tells me “Terri, when life throws you lemons just make limoncello”. She’s sassy and funny. A big hugger with a kind heart. She’s always up for a show on broadway, a glass of wine at 5:00 or a cup of tea in the afternoon. She’s my Mama and I love her to the moon and back a thousand times over. God blessed me when he gave me my Mom. As my husband says, if you need someone to fight for you, someone to be in your corner or someone to make you laugh, you need my mother in law.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the strong beautiful women 💜

Curiosity is one of the most underestimated leadership disciplines.

The leaders who create lasting businesses are not the ones trying to prove they have the right answers. They are the ones willing to keep asking better questions. Questions about their people. Their customers. Their assumptions. Their blind spots. Their next move.

Curiosity keeps leaders connected to what is actually true, not just what feels familiar or comfortable. And that connection is what allows teams to grow with clarity instead of confusion.

Where in your leadership right now might a better question change the outcome?

For a long time I believed parts of my career had taken too long or hadn’t made sense at the time.

What I understand now is that most of what feels messy while you are living it is actually preparation.

I see this with so many business owners. You start by doing everything yourself because you care deeply about the work and the people you serve. That commitment is what builds the business in the first place.

Then something shifts.

The business grows. The decisions get heavier. The team gets larger. And the role you are being asked to step into starts to look different than the one that got you here.

That transition can feel uncomfortable, especially if you are used to being the one holding everything together.

But discomfort at this stage usually means something new is being built, even if you cannot fully see it yet.

If you are in that space right now, you are not alone in it. And you are not behind. You are learning how to lead the next version of what you are creating.

If you are starting to sense gaps in your business but are not sure where to begin, that is exactly why I created the Business Audit. Send me a message and we can talk through what comes next!

There is a lot that sits behind the work I get to do with leaders.

Yes, we talk about strategy. Yes, we talk about growth and what it takes to scale a business. But the work that matters most almost always starts somewhere deeper.

It starts with the leader.

Helping someone quiet the noise, reconnect with their vision, and build their business from the inside out is some of the most meaningful work I get to be part of.

Because when a leader grows in clarity, discipline, and belief in what they are building, everything around them begins to shift. The business expands right alongside them.

I feel incredibly grateful for the leaders who trust me to walk with them through that process.

If you’re feeling that pull toward your next level, my DMs are always open. I’d love to hear where you are in your journey.

One of the things I have learned after years of working with founders and CEOs is that business growth and leadership growth are almost always tied together.

There comes a moment in every leader’s journey where the strategies and habits that got them here are not the ones that will take them further. And that realization can feel uncomfortable at first.

But it is also incredibly empowering.

Because when you are willing to grow as a leader, to challenge how you think, decide, and show up, the possibilities for your business expand right alongside you.

That is the work that changes everything.

I talk to founder CEOs every week who’ve built incredible businesses… and they’re drowning.

They’re the go-to person for everything. Making high-stakes decisions alone. Watching technology move faster than they can adapt. Worried about what happens when they can’t keep up this pace anymore.

Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing: Small businesses ARE the backbone of our economy. You create jobs. You drive innovation. You give people that human connection that AI never will. You keep communities healthy and make an impact in society.

But if you’re barely keeping your head above water? You can’t do any of that sustainably.

Your business needs to work without you being the hero of every single story. That’s not just about your sanity (though that matters). It’s about building something that actually LASTS.

Swipe through to see if any of these hit home. And if they do? Take my free Resilience Audit. Let’s figure out where your business is vulnerable… and what to fix first.

Because the world needs your business to thrive. Not just survive.

I’ve been there more times than I can count as a founder.

You start with a dream to build something that matters, while carrying the weight of uncertainty, the economy, and everything life throws at you.

I remember starting my first business during the 2008 recession. Walking through the Javits Center with my business partner, dreaming anyway. She asked, “Do you think this can work with everything going on?”
My answer was simple: “Of course it can. We’ve got this.”

So many things were stacked against us. But we built anyway. Because the dream mattered.

That belief is what led me to create The Main Street Table. A space for founder business owners to connect, think, plan, and keep building together.

I believe small business owners are the heartbeat of our communities, and change always starts with conversation.

If you’re a founder who needs space to talk it through and keep moving forward, comment coffee and let’s connect for a virtual coffee!

March 15, 2020.

I was lying in the back seat of our car after emergency surgery, unable to sit upright, listening to the radio talk about the NBA shutting down the season and people panic buying toilet paper.

Two days later, the world closed.

My phone started ringing nonstop. Business owners scared. Unsure. Asking questions no one had answers to yet. I was exhausted, medicated, barely mobile, and still taking every call. Helping people navigate PPP loans, pivots, and uncertainty from the back seat of a car.

That’s when I learned something I’ve never forgotten.
There’s a sixth gear that shows up when you think you have nothing left.

It isn’t about strength or having it all together. It’s about being willing to show up anyway. To be steady when things feel chaotic. To say “we’ll figure this out” even when you don’t have all the answers.

A lot of leaders are being asked to navigate impossible situations right now. If you’re feeling stretched thin or running on fumes, that doesn’t mean you’re failing.

Sometimes, that’s exactly when real leadership shows up.

Leaders come to me after they’ve done everything they were told would fix it. New systems. New tools. New hires. And yet they’re still the one making every decision. Still jumping into every meeting. Still getting the late-night message because “only you can handle it.”

They’re exhausted and quietly wondering if they’re the problem.

They’re not. But they are trying to solve an inside-out problem from the outside in.

When leadership clarity and alignment aren’t there, no system will fix the frustration. The work starts by looking inward first and getting clear on how you lead, how you show up, and what you’re asking others to carry with you.

If this feels familiar and you want to talk it through, comment coffee and let’s connect for a virtual coffee.

This idea came up in a recent conversation on the podcast, and it’s something I see over and over again in my work with leaders.

So many people are focused on external results, titles, and outcomes, but real leadership starts with clarity around who you are and who you want to be.

When leaders take the time to understand themselves, what matters to them, and how they want to show up, they create space for others to rise as well. That’s where alignment happens, and that’s where growth becomes sustainable.

If you’re in a season where you want clarity around your leadership and what matters most right now, comment coffee and let’s connect for a virtual coffee!
