Another successful winter season — and another crawfish boil to celebrate! With the season wrapped up, our team completed forestry and county/parish work across Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

EFS would like to give a big thank‑you to Logan Hancock and James Hartshorn for putting together this year’s company crawfish boil. It was a great chance for everyone to relax on Good Friday and spend time with family, friends, and coworkers.

A huge shoutout as well to everyone who helped cook, gathered supplies, and cleaned up around the hangar. The boil is always a team effort, and it wouldn’t be possible without all hands on deck.

Just like this year, we look forward to another successful season — and doing it all again!

Happy Friday! Recently on our winter work in Louisiana, one of our pilots was able to capture Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The stadium was constructed in 1924 when the East and West Stands were built which seated 12,000 people. The stadium would later be enclosed in 1953 on the South End which increased the seating capacity to 67,720. Tiger Stadium is no stranger to upgrades and updating as there is a major project to the stadium every decade since its founding in the 1920s. The stadium now has 102,321 seats after its upgrade was completed in 2014 which makes it the fifth largest on-campus stadium.
Tiger Stadium boasts one of the best home records in college football at a staggering 457-157-18 (.737). The LSU program has four national championships with three of their championships being since 2000. The program has three Heisman Trophy Winners being RB Billy Cannon (1959), QB Joe Burrow (2019), and QB Jayden Daniels (2023).
The University also has something else very unique. They are the only college campus that has a live tiger mascot. Mike the Tiger VII has been reigning on campus in his 15,000' enclosure since 2017.

Due to inclement weather, our team has been working remotely this week. Our commitment to our clients remains the same, and we are here for any support that may be needed. It's almost like we are right around the corner.
Justin Rollans office mate this week has been particularly interested in the projects that he is working on.

We have the chili, now we are just waiting on the cooler weather. We had our First Chili Cookoff today with chilis from Austin Barmore, Justin Rollans, Logan Hancock, Madalyn Elam, Auddy Doss, and Sissy Ritchie Matthews. The winner of our chili cookoff was Justin Rollans with his deer chili, followed by Logan Hancock in 2nd and Sissy Ritchie Matthews in 3rd. If someone left hungry from our chili lunch today, it was by their own accord. Congrats to our winners and thank you to the judges!

For the photo of the week, the focus is on the local, hometown college mascot—the Boll Weevil. Weezie the Weevil calls the University of Arkansas at Monticello its home.

Before playing their rival, Magnolia A&M (now known as Southern Arkansas University), UAM's President Frank Horsfall stated...
“The only gosh-darned thing that ever licked the South was the boll weevil. Boll weevils! That’s what you are—Boll Weevils!”
President Horsfall was comparing UAM to the boll weevil, a small but relentless force capable of bringing down a larger foe.

The boll weevil migrated to the United States from Central America in the late 1800s. Once here, it quickly devastated cotton crops across the South, even driving some farms into bankruptcy. Though eradicated in 1978, its legacy remains deeply tied to the region’s agricultural history. At UAM, the mascot honors that legacy and reflects the university’s strong ties to agriculture.

More than just a nod to farming roots, the Boll Weevil embodies a spirit of persistence and resilience—qualities that define both the university and its community. It’s no surprise that this unusual mascot has been ranked among the most unique in collegiate sports.

Today, UAM’s men’s teams are known as the Boll Weevils, while the women’s teams proudly carry the name Cotton Blossoms.

Come back to our page tomorrow, as we will be voting for the best pumpkin in the office!

The harvest is in full swing across the Mississippi and Arkansas River Deltas. In Arkansas, the corn and rice harvest is running ahead of the five-year average, with corn showing a significant increase in acreage this year—up 42% to 710,000 acres. Cotton plantings were down due to heavy rainfall, which led many farmers to switch over to soybeans. Meanwhile, soybean and rice harvest numbers are projected to remain close to last year’s totals.

The busy harvest season is expected to wind down around the beginning of November, as the first frost brings it to a close.
