Hey Vermonters, will you take a minute to show that you support healthy school meals for all our kids?

Forward Philanthropy is proud to support Hunger Free Vermont’s Universal School Meal Campaign:

A federal program providing free meals to all school children expires in June, but hunger wonʼt stop then. Help us urge lawmakers to pass the Universal School Meals bill to ensure kids can grow healthy, ready to learn, and eventually help lead our state!

While Monday is now 'officially' recognized as Indigenous Peoples' Day, we appreciate this reminder from Amplifier that every day is Indigenous People's Day.

"For Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2020, we partnered with Nia Tero and IllumiNatives to release a new artwork series, education tools, & a large scale nationwide public art takeover leading up to the November presidential elections because we believe EVERYDAY should be Indigenous Peoples’ Day! The artwork series explores various concepts tied to Indigenous sovereignty, civic engagement, and land stewardship and celebrate Indigenous leaders on the front lines of change in Indigenous communities and beyond."

A call to action for philanthropy as the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act approaches: “It’s important to honor our history. It’s important to celebrate those advances. They’re few and far between. But we’re not done yet. The time to be included, the time for this to change is now. And you can be a part of it. You should be a part of it.”

Ryan Easterly is the executive director of the WITH Foundation and has significant experience as a grant maker, strategist, and advocate. In this video, he elaborates on why philanthropy needs to be more inclusive of disability in all areas of funding. Click here for the video transcript.

Sometimes philanthropy is about more than the money. Sometimes it’s also about using the soapbox to elevate people and organizations, such as the life changing work of Outright Vermont on behalf of LGBTQ+ youth.

Outright Vermont is the organization that brings hope to LGBTQ youth.

“... we nonprofits and foundations too equivocate and overthink all sorts of things. And gradually, over the years, we start to praise ourselves for doing endless researching, planning, and pontificating instead of taking actions, to the point where we now consider this course of inaction as “best practices.””
