Dracula never dies (even when he’s killed) and Frankenstein's creature was an accidental disaster. Professional legal educator Stuart Teicher, Esq. (the CLE Performer) turns classic movie monsters into ethics lessons. Learning objectives include:

-Dracula lives forever, and so does the lawyer's duty of confidentiality in Rule 1.6 and 1.9(c)(2)
-Frankenstein was a monster because his creator’s assistant messed up. It illustrates how lawyers need to supervise (Rule 5.3)
-When explorers found the Mummy, the assistant didn’t listen and the fiasco started (the parallel is Rule 5.2, duty of subordinate lawyers)

Date: October 14, 2026
Time: 10am - 11am
Format: Zoom
Credits: 1.0 Ethics (meets the requirement for 1st-yr credit, as well!)
Speaker: Stuart Teicher, Esq.

Generative AI can help lawyers save time on research, drafting, client communication, and internal workflows, but careless use can create confidentiality, accuracy, and professional responsibility risks.

This practical CLE will show Vermont lawyers how to use Gen AI responsibly in solo and small-firm practice. Participants will learn what tasks they can safely delegate to AI, what information they should keep out of public tools, how to verify AI-generated work, and how to create simple internal safeguards for attorneys and staff. The session will use realistic Vermont-relevant scenarios and focus on concrete workflows that lawyers can apply immediately.

As legal search shifts from traditional results pages to AI-generated answers, the same principles that govern attorney marketing: honesty, transparency, and genuine value are also what AI engines reward.

This session covers how to build a firm's online presence around real expertise rather than manipulative SEO tactics, how AI tools evaluate and cite sources when answering legal questions, and common pitfalls (misleading claims, fabricated testimonials) to avoid. Attendees will leave with practical steps for converting online visibility into client relationships without compromising professional responsibility standards.

In or Out...Yes or No...Maybe, Maybe Not?
AI adoption isn’t solely a technology decision — it's a judgment call.

This session presents a two-stage framework for evaluating AI tools in your practice or your clients' businesses — first identifying disqualifying threshold issues (explainability, auditability, reversibility, legal authorization), then applying performance criteria (accuracy, cost, speed, oversight burden, scalability) to tools that clear the threshold. Case studies are grounded in recent litigation, regulatory action, and disciplinary matters involving AI misuse.
