Business never stops and will continue, the only variable is in regards to the customer. The US is the Chinese customer and it is no longer working, they will move. The US company's client will choose to go where the price is cheaper. This will be a slow, measured shift, but it will happen if the trade war is not resolved or the US companies do not move. They are not coming home, they are simply going to shift to other Asian countries or Latin America.

Anyone that believes this is good for the US is greatly mistaken. This will impact the cost of every product we buy on a daily basis. For instance, decreased imports means decreased empty containers returning to whatever country leading to increased costs of all US exports. Car prices could increase by as much as 25%. The price of beer will increase due to the cost of aluminum. Every aspect of your life just got more expensive.

France had said the move would be "unjustified and dangerous", and the EU says it may react in kind.

Rather than start a trade war, we should have finalized the Pacific and Atlantic Trade Agreements aimed at leveling the playing field. The nonsensical and irrational stance taken against the global economy would be laughable if the negative impact on every day life and business were not real.

NAFTA is a critical part of US policy. Life will become quite difficult without our neighbors and it will have an immediate impact on jobs. Not all jobs are in manufacturing. Industries such as logistics, retail, automotive and others will be negatively impacted if a positive resolution is not reached.
