This summer, the Lee County Intern Connect program, in partnership with the Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce and Keokuk Area Chamber of Commerce, gave local interns the opportunity to explore careers, businesses, and community assets throughout Lee County.

Throughout the summer, interns toured local businesses, learned from community leaders, explored local attractions, and experienced some of the many opportunities available right here in Lee County.

The summer wrapped up with a final tour at Huffman Welding & Machine, giving interns one more look at local career opportunities and the industries that help drive Lee County.

Thank you to all of the businesses and community partners who opened their doors and helped make Intern Connect a success! We wish all of our interns the best in their future endeavors and hope they’ll consider bringing their talents back to Lee County.

We’re kicking off a full day of conversations about the future of housing in Lee County!

Charlie from RDG Planning & Design is at Keokuk City Hall this morning, sharing the findings and recommendations from the recently completed Lee County Housing Study with our first group of community stakeholders.

There are two more opportunities to join us today:
Fort Madison City Hall | 2:00 p.m.
Donnellson | 5:30 p.m.

These presentations are open to the public, and anyone with an interest in housing, community growth, development, or the future of Lee County is encouraged to attend.

We had a great afternoon at our third Industry Roundtable yesterday at Huffman Welding & Machine. It was great to have engineering and technical professionals from across Lee County around the same table sharing ideas and learning from one another.

These roundtables were created to give local manufacturers a chance to have honest conversations about the challenges they're facing and to learn how others are approaching similar issues. Yesterday's discussion covered everything from AI and advanced software to shutdown and maintenance preparedness, as well as ways companies are improving their internal processes.

A big thank you to Huffman Welding & Machine, Inc. for hosting and to everyone who took the time to join the conversation. We appreciate everyone's willingness to share their experiences, and we're already looking forward to the next roundtable!
