Lindsey McMakin brings with her 22 years of experience in the veterinary industry. Having completed AAHA’s Veterinary Management School in 2006 and AAHA’s Veterinary Management Institute at Purdue University in 2008, Lindsey received a certificate in Veterinary Practice Administration. She earned an MBA from North Greenville University’s Graduate School of Business in 2012. She also obtained her CVPM from the VHMA in 2021. As a Certified Profit Solver Consultant for Fee Technology, Lindsey is engaging with practices across the country to help them better understand their finances and price their services more strategically. Lindsey’s passion is to come alongside existing staff and teach the why’s and how’s so each team member is empowered to realize his or her full potential. The insight she has gained from working diverse roles in a clinical setting allows her to develop practical and individualized business plans that meet client’s needs.

Inventory management isn’t just about products on a shelf—it’s about people, accountability, and recognizing the value of doing it right.

A recent document we reviewed put a spotlight on something the veterinary industry doesn’t talk about enough: inventory manager compensation.

It reinforced what Nicole Clausen, CSSGB, CCFP, CVBL has been advocating for years—if we expect inventory to be managed strategically, we have to treat the role like a true business function, not an “extra duty.”

The reality highlighted in the document:
➡️ Inventory is often one of the largest expenses in a practice
➡️ Yet the person managing it is frequently underpaid or lacks defined compensation structure
