Visit Hardy will hold an Open House on Saturday, August 29, 12:00-4:00 for the Robert Higgins House, the new home for the Hardy County Visitors Center and the Higgins House Museum.

Located at 202 Wi******er Avenue in Moorefield, the 2nd floor exhibition, The History of Log Cabins, explores the early influences on American log cabin architecture and the history of the 1790 Higgins House. The 1st floor exhibition is Robert Higgins: A Man Who Should be Known. The exhibition weaves Robert Higgins’ life as a farmer, Continental officer, prisoner of war, and founder of a frontier town into the fabric of America’s revolutionary era.

Beginning August 31, the Higgins House will be open 10am to 4pm Monday-Tuesday and Friday-Saturday or by appointment. For information, please contact Diane Graham at [email protected] or Michele at [email protected].

Governor Morrisey will be at Sunset Restaurant in Moorefield , Thursday July 30 at 8:30am having breakfast if anyone would like to stop by and say hi. The Governor will also be in the Tri-County Fair Parade this evening in Petersburg.

Had a great time at the South Branch Smokehouse After Hours last night. Thank you to Sam and Kelly Williams for hosting and everyone who came out to this event. Looking forward to the next event on July 31.

WVU Mountaineer Mascot rides in the Poultry Parade and attends a reception at the McCoy Grand Theatre and Museum immediately following the parade on Thursday, July 16th. Theatre will be open after 6:30 pm.
Please stop in the historic Theatre and Museum to mingle, meet and take photos with Amelia Bolton, the 2026-27 Alternate Mountaineer Mascot. Light refreshments and cash drinks will be offered.
