FYI for our Pine County people
UPDATE: The Evergreen Forest Fire in the Chengwatana State Forest is currently estimated at 167 acres and 5% contained. Access to the fire is extremely challenging and firefighters are using tracked vehicles.
The fire, which was originally detected on October 17th, is approximately 10 miles east of Pine City.
The area of closure l, which consists of a portion of the Chengwatana State Forest, remains in effect for all recreational activities, including dispersed camping, trail riding, hiking and other activities.
