🍷 W**e Wednesday: More History from the Hill 🍇
Last week, we started sharing some of the history behind Atwood Hill W**ery & Vineyard, and this week we’re taking you even further back into the story of the Clinkenbeard family and life on this 105-acre farm.
🏡 Before the Farmhouse…
The old home pictured was where the family first lived before moving into the farmhouse many of you recognize today. Six of the eight children were born right here on the farm. Just imagine the stories and memories made on this land long before it became a w**ery!
🚌 You may recognize something special in one of these old photographs—a Kenton County Schools bus.
Russell “Rody” Clinkenbeard drove a school bus for Kenton County Schools in the 1950s, but when he wasn’t behind the wheel, he was busy working the family farm.
🌽 On these 105 acres, Rody raised cattle and grew to***co and corn. The photos give us such a special glimpse into everyday farm life—from the livestock and horses to the old cars, buildings, and school bus that once traveled these country roads.
❤️ Rody and Lyda spent their entire lives on this farm. They raised their family here, worked the land, and created a legacy that remains part of the property today.
Now, generations later, the land has a new purpose. Where cattle and crops once filled the farm, you’ll now find grapevines, w**e, celebrations, and new memories being made—but we love that pieces of its farming history can still be found everywhere you look.
The hill may look a little different these days, but its roots run deep. 🍇
