Kanlaya Barr - Empower 2026 Keynote ✨
Kanlaya Barr, pronounced Ga-li-a, is the Director of International Finance and Cash Management at John Deere. Born and raised in Thailand, she pursued her graduate studies in the United States and earned a doctorate in Economics from Iowa State University. She has worked in the finance and manufacturing industries for more than two decades.
In her previous role as Director of Corporate Economics, Kanlaya focused on making economics accessible to a broad audience. She crafted stories that combined economic insights and forecasts to help people understand the forces shaping the global agriculture and construction industries. Through this work, she presented economic insights to more than 15,000 audience members annually.
Drawing on her expertise in economics, finance, and leadership, Kanlaya currently leads John Deere's International Finance and Cash Management organization. In this role, she oversees global treasury operations, international liquidity management, and financial risk management, helping support the company's strategy and financial strength around the world.
As someone who has navigated new countries, new careers, and rapidly changing economic environments, Kanlaya is passionate about helping others recognize opportunities, build confidence, and pursue growth beyond their comfort zones.
