Where do I begin? If you know me then you know I obsess over whitetails. This buck I nicknamed Mufasa as he was the king on the farm. I shot him 10-9-26 @ 6:25pm with my Mathews. I’ve been patterning and obsessing over this deer since may when I got my first trail cam picture of him. I’m so grateful and blessed for such an incredible but short season in the deer woods. The feeling is bittersweet as the hunt for Mufasa is over. Good luck to all my fellow hunters and friends, we can’t wait to see what you bring in this fall!🦌

Quick tip/reference for anyone caping their own deer. Follow where white and brown hairline meet on back of leg- green line in pics. DO NOT cut into armpit area-red circles. That’s a no zone. Once you make the correct cuts, skin on down as far as you can or are comfortable with. Save these pics for guidance. If you prefer, I will cape your deer for you at no extra cost if you use my services.

One of the coolest hunts I’ve ever had, 10-2-26 the earliest I’ve tagged a deer yet. I’ve been watching this deer pretty hard for a while now and it all unfolded last night!

With the 2026-27 season about to kick off, don't forget about our 14th annual Buck of the Week (BOTW) contest.

For those who don't know what the contest is, and for those who want a reminder on the rules, here ya go!
Rules and Eligibility:
- Buck must be legally harvested during the 2026-2027 hunting season (Bow or Gun)
- Must be harvested in Illinois
- Submissions are to be sent in via Facebook or Instagram message, include your Name, County, and *optional* any other information you would like to add (rack score, weight, etc)
- Whichever Buck of the Week picture has the most likes (Facebook and Instagram combined) after the end of the Illinois deer season, will be awarded as the winner
- Remember, SIZE of the buck DOES NOT MATTER for this contest. The buck with most LIKES wins.
- WINNER receives choice of a $500 gift certificate towards a shoulder mount at Last November Taxidermy OR a trail camera donated by Last November Taxidermy!

***There will most likely be multiple Bucks of the Week on any given day in order to ensure all bucks submitted get shared through the season***
