Huge shout out to Lone Rock Resources and to Nick Winner and Josh for giving us an amazing tour while we were down in Oregon. The club got the chance to see a logging site that had a 180 swing yarder then take a look at a redwood silvicultural research site. As well as take a look at a wetland restoration project that Lone Rock generously donated and helped with. We got the chance to ask some great questions about the redwood silviculture and how they plan to implement it in the future as well as learn more about the company.

Huge thanks to and Daniel Wuerth for hosting us today and giving us a tour of the facility! We had a great time at the global headquarters for Oregon tool based in Portland OR learning how chains are made and learning that they produce 1 million feet of chain a week just out of the Portland manufacturing facility. It was a great time talking to Vandal alumni Jaret that is working in product testing putting his degree in metallurgical engineering to great use making sure that every chain produced is up to industry standards.

Idaho Forest Group - Lewiston Mill Tour

Our first stop of the 2nd annual Collegiate Forestry Summit was at the Idaho Forest Group in Lewiston, located along the Clearwater River. This historic mill, covering over 180 acres, produces over 300 million board feet of lumber annually, with sizes ranging from 2x4 to 2x12.

They use cutting-edge technology like the Microtec CT Log Scanner, which provides 3D imaging of each log to optimize wood quality and maximize efficiency.

A huge thank you to Idaho Forest Group for letting us tour their impressive facility!
