Monday morning in the garden 🥦🥬🧅🧄

I’m pretty sure every farmer, gardener and livestock owner in East Tennessee breathed a sigh of relief this weekend when we finally got some rain…..myself included! One thing is for sure…..the garden definitely benefited from the rain. We water regularly, but there’s nothing like good ol’ fashioned rain to set the plants a jumpin’!!!

Now it try to continue to hold my horses when it comes to planting the warm weather vegetables and flowers…..East Tennessee weather sure does test your patience!

The animals are thriving, grass (and hay) are growing, the cooler weather garden is growing by leaps and bounds…..and our first rose of the season bloomed! It’s such and exciting time of year!

Oh…..and that little plum tree I brought home on Friday has a little plum growing! 🤗

It’s that time of year…..the Myers Farm 2026 Market Season kicks off Tuesday, April 21st, and we’ll be there with plenty of our fresh baked bread and more!

The market is from 5-8pm…..mark those calendars and make plans to spend the night exploring their greenhouses and supporting other farmers, bakers, artisans and more!

See y’all soon! 🎉

We’ve seen such great growth on our broccoli and cauliflower plants, in particular, just since Saturday. My secret….I put some blood meal and bone meal around each plant then scratched it into the soil and gave them a really good watering. Add to that some beautiful weather and the plants look fantastic! Garden season is so richly rewarding!

Margaret had the privilege of being the first cow into this paddock of nice, fresh, spring grass! She didn’t get as much time on it as she would’ve liked (so she didn’t get an upset stomach), but I’m pretty sure she’ll be ready for more as soon as we open the gate back up!

Another Monday, another little cutie! Our Brown Swiss/Longhorn cross, Summer, welcomed this sweet little bull calf today. I’ll admit….even though we knew it was highly likely that our Baldy bull was the one to tag her last year….seeing the striking difference between Summer and her baby was quite the surprise in the pasture this morning! 🙃 But he sure is handsome and I sure do love his little white socks!

Welcome to the world little guy, we’re so glad you’re here! 🩵

The garden is already off to an amazing start this year and I could not be more excited! Several cooler weather vegetables are growing strong….but thanks to some very early heat, they’ll be getting some shade cloth over the weekend. My 2 week forecast almost gets us to the last predicted frost for our area and there’s not any in sight…..is it just me or is it super tempting to jump the gun and start planting those warm weather veggies early!

Welcome to garden season 2026….its already one of my favorites!

The kids were having a great time bouncing around the pasture tonight! There’s something about baby goats and the springs in their feet that just brings so much joy 🥰
