The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce is organized for the purpose of promoting and advancing the economic, industrial, professional, cultural, and civic welfare of the county and surrounding area. Named for John Marshall, who served as Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court for 34 years, Marshall County was formed in 1835. ndle of West Virginia, and the city of Moundsville serves as the county seat. Moundsville takes its name from the largest Indian burial mound in the world built by people who lived in this area nearly 2,000 years ago. Distributes the Visitors Guide to interstate rest stops, CVB’s, motels/hotels and upon phone call requests throughout the nation
Provides the visitors and tourist information bureau for Marshall County
People count on the chamber as their information center through phone calling, e-mailing and walk-ins. Offers monthly Business-After Hours events (Networking opportunities for all businesses)
Referral agency to promote Marshall County businesses
The chamber’s Executive Director is a member of the OVIBDC Board of Directors. Regional Economic Development Partners (RED) represents the County Commission for economic development. Chamber sponsored seminars on improved business concepts
Provides an average of 25 ribbon-cuttings per year for new and relocating businesses. (This provides those businesses free news coverage)
The chamber’s Annual Golf Scramble provides networking among businesses from within the county as well as business from outside Marshall County. Chamber committees offer educational information to the membership
The Education Committee brings the school district, businesses and industry together to focus on enhancing the educational level of Marshall County citizens
The annual Christmas Tree Gala Fundraiser sets tone for the holidays. All county tourist stops have joined together to promote Marshall County Tourism as a whole.
