Surry County Residents: Your Voice Matters!!

Bannertown Fire & Rescue, Franklin Community Volunteer Fire Department, and Skull Camp Fire & Rescue invite all Surry County residents to visit www.SurryCountyFD.com and complete a brief community survey regarding the future of fire protection services in our county.

Surry County is considering significant changes to the way fire departments are funded. These proposed changes could have a major impact on local community-based fire departments that have protected our citizens for generations.

We believe the people of Surry County deserve an opportunity to be heard before decisions are made that could affect emergency response, local accountability, volunteer involvement, and the future of fire protection in our communities.

The survey provides a way for residents, business owners, firefighters, and stakeholders to share their thoughts, concerns, and priorities regarding these proposed funding changes.
This is not about politics—it's about ensuring that the voices of the people who depend on these services every day are part of the conversation.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share this post with your friends, family, and neighbors.

Together, we can help ensure the future of fire protection in Surry County reflects the needs and wishes of the communities we serve.

It is with heavy hearts that Franklin Community Volunteer Fire Department mourns the loss of former firefighter Logan Utt, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving his community as a Sheriff’s Deputy.

Before his career in law enforcement, Logan proudly served as a part-time firefighter with Franklin Community Volunteer Fire Department. During his time with our department, he demonstrated the same dedication, courage, and commitment to helping others that he carried throughout his life.

The fire service and law enforcement communities share a common bond of service and sacrifice. Logan embodied those values every day, answering the call to protect and serve wherever he was needed. His unwavering commitment to his community and his fellow first responders will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to Logan’s family, friends, fellow deputies, and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him. While words cannot ease the pain of this tremendous loss, we hope they find comfort in knowing that his life made a lasting impact on countless people.

Please join us in keeping the Utt family, his law enforcement family, and all those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Deputy Logan Utt. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication to others. Your watch is over; we have it from here.
