Networking events get a bad rap they don't always deserve.

The problem usually isn't the event. It's the approach. Most people walk in looking for their next client.

If you work B2B, your ideal client probably isn't in that room.

The people who can get you in front of your ideal client might be.

That's a different thing to be looking for. When you start looking for it, the same rooms start to feel a lot more valuable.

The filter for this room isn't how long you've been in business.

It's whether you take relationships seriously. Whether you show up consistently. Whether you're interested in building something real versus collecting a stack of cards and hoping something sticks.

We have members who are relatively new and members who've been at it for years. Both fit here. What matters is the mindset.

There's a concept we work through in NXL called the five-point star.

You put yourself at the top, your ideal client in the middle, and then you map out four adjacent industries, you know people who are already working with your ideal client from a different angle.

The commercial lender is already talking to the business owner who just landed a contract and needs to hire.

The CPA is already in the room at year-end when the owner is thinking about what to invest in.

The estate attorney gets the call when real estate is about to change hands.

Those conversations are already happening. The question is whether you're in them.

We've been meeting every Tuesday in Winston-Salem for a few weeks now.

No referral quotas. No 60-second commercials. No format that treats the room like a sales floor.

Just a structured hour and a half built around real conversation and real relationship building. The kind that actually compounds over time.
