This fall I had the opportunity to work with a Los Angeles–based ad agency to create not one, but two oversized quilts (120x120) for Straight Talk / Verizon Wireless, designed to visually represent their nationwide coverage.
The quilts were used in a national social media campaign last week, and I’m so proud of the final results. One of the quilts was part of a sweepstakes that customers could enter to win.

Thank you to my loyal customers for your patience during this project—and to my husband for keeping everything running smoothly while I met a tight five-week deadline.

Sue Shrader, author of the Creative Sewing Machines's BERNINA Software Workbooks, has created a self standing lesson for the BERNINA Version 9 Software. This 26 page lesson offers a quick finished design that can be used to quilt block by block or create fabric to use for quick craft projects. But the lesson isn’t so much about the finished design but the steps and tools you can use to get to know your BERNINA Embroidery Software-Designer Plus.

Tools covered in this lesson include: Getting to know how the Hoop icon functions and how to create a custom hoop when yours isn’t listed, adjusting the grid for perfect alignment, digitizing with the Rectangle and Open Object tool, selecting the type of stitch and color to use for digitizing, duplicating and aligning of design objects, using the stitch player to sew the design out on screen before sending to your embroidery machine.

Designs created in this BERNINA software can be exported to almost, if not all embroidery machines.
