Just an update and some more details on what we have been referring to internally as our SCM hoods for the StarQuest platform.
The idea with these hoods is weight savings and clearance. We modified the inner structure to provide as much space as possible for engine swaps and vents. What started fairly simple has morphed into something else entirely, I think I may have a problem! We added a flush mount aerocatch option as well as a purpose designed extractor vent that will pair beautifully with one of these. We can make these in any weave you could ever want. This project is way outta hand, completely overdone and I love every detail about them. I am very excited to offer up some of the best quality parts to come out of my shop very soon!
As goes with any of our carbon parts, everything is hand made in house in metro Detroit, MI. Wherever possible we utilize materials made in the USA. From cloth to resins and consumables materials are domestically sourced wherever possible.
Every part is strategically hand laid with varying weights/weaves/orientations of carbon cloth, no cheap fiberglass as filer, and vacuum infused and properly post cured. The parts are then assembled and bonded in a jig to ensure perfect and repeatable fitment.
We are doing a limited run of 10 carbon hoods, 5 of which are spoken for. We are also making some of these in fiberglass. Pricing is not locked in definitively yet but these are going to be in the $1200-$3000 range starting with fiberglass and going all the way up to a fully optioned show quality cleared exposed weave hood/extractor vent with latches etc. Please let me know if you are interested in discussing a hood and getting a quote for what would work best for your application.
