One of my favorite things about antiques is imagining the generations who gathered around them before they found their way here.

On the left is a charming c. 1900–1910 oak side chair featuring a beautifully aged oak frame and a sweet floral needlepoint seat. The sculptural back splat has wonderful character, and the chair remains sturdy, functional, and ready to enjoy every day.

On the right is an elegant Victorian Eastlake side chair frame from around 1880–1895 with crisp architectural carvings, turned legs; and a later reupholstery mid-century featuring a striking floral needlepoint basket with flowers. A true statement piece that showcases the craftsmanship and decorative artistry of the late Victorian era.

These aren’t reproductions or mass-produced furniture—they’re authentic pieces that have already stood the test of time and are ready for the next collector to love.

✨ Oak Needlepoint Side Chair — $150
✨ Victorian Eastlake Needlepoint Chair — $195

Some pieces are worth the extra effort.

This antique marble-top cabinet caught my eye immediately, not just for the marble, but for the many useful ways this piece could be used. While most pieces from this era tend to feature blue, brown, or plain white tile, this one has a soft green botanical pattern making it feel especially unusual.

The vintage hardware from the mid-century wasn’t doing the piece any favors, so I replaced it with timeless solid brass hardware from Yester Home that better complements the age and character of the cabinet. The wood was carefully cleaned and nourished with tung oil, then finished with Renaissance Wax to bring out the richness of the grain while preserving its authentic patina. The marble received the same careful attention. Lastly, for a little whimsy, added removable drawer/cabinet liners.

Dating to approximately 1895–1915, it’s the kind of piece that can begin a second life as a coffee bar, wet bar, bathroom storage, kitchen accent cabinet, or entryway statement piece.

One of my favorite transformations this year.

$695 plus tax.

It was time to tend to this little basement vendor booth — the original one that launched me into all that I’m doing today. Purging, rethinking displays, how to light this little corner…always a fun mental exercise given all the constraints.

Being diligent and faithful with what’s before me.

Making the present as lovely and beautiful with the resources at hand — little did I know — was developing design muscles that I now lean on daily. In fact, I actually look for and enjoy design problem-solving. Somehow my creative brain runs on all cylinders when there’s some sort of obstacle (space, budget, supplies).

My trick? Figure out the trouble-spots, what can and can’t be changed and then embrace it all. Dream. Do the very best with what you have and create.

This little booth and a home renovation taught me how to fine tune obstacles into opportunities.

As always, DM with questions or if you see something and need shipping. Or, you can find these inside the basement Perfect Patina booth .antiques.

Sweet mid-century Sophia “Pas De Deux” ballet interpretation prints in the most feminine restored original frames.

Likely dating 1940s–1960s with original maker’s marks preserved on the back. The original dust covers were too damaged to save, so each piece was carefully taken apart, cleaned, rewaxed, and professionally refreshed with new dust covers and hanging hardware while preserving and reattaching the original labels.

The soft ballet scenes paired with the ornate carved frames are especially beautiful for cottage, romantic traditional, or collected vintage interiors.

$62 each + tax

Even the smallest of items that complete that perfect project can bring such joy and beauty.

Today I present to you a life-long button collection. How do I know? I sifted through hundreds of buttons to find all the statement singles, pairs and sets.

I’m now definitely thinking twice about tossing my own misc. buttons, or even saving the sweetest set of five buttons from a worn out blouse. I’m sure glad this collector did.

Hunting for the perfect button(s) for your knitting, sewing or crafting project? There is so much to choose from. And be sure to grab some yarn at Sugar River Yarns across the street from Isaac’s Antiques where you can shop buttons in the 2 Perfect Patina vendor booths.

Just a fun DIY planting video. My sweet friend gifted me ranunculus staters — one of my all time favorite flowers. I’ve been wanting to convert this chamber pot into a planter for a while — but — should I be the one to change its destiny forever?

Yes! Love how she came out!
