How should board members rethink their roles to remain agile and forward-looking in rapidly changing environments?
Here is what Association Headquarters' Director of Client Services and Engagement, Gerry Terry, CAE, IOM, has to say about shifting the governance mindset:
"I believe board conversations are most effective when they center on critical issues and future opportunities. I've found that agility comes from letting go of rigid, multi-year plans and instead using scenario planning to test assumptions and guide decisions. It also means narrowing focus to a small number of strategic priorities ("rocks") and spending time exploring how the profession is evolving, where the organization may be exposed, and where there is both capacity and readiness to innovate."
