Governor Beshear is considering proposals that would make significant cuts to Medicaid waiver reimbursement rates. Cuts to reimbursement rates don't just affect providers; they also affect families that support loved ones through the PDS service option.

Waiver service reimbursement rate cuts will result in:
❌ Reduced access to services
❌ Longer waiting lists
❌ Decreased wages for caregiving/support professionals
❌ Increased workforce shortages
❌ Increased costly institutional placements
❌ Potential program closures

Adult participants may discover their niche our excellent day center, where one can learn daily living skills while building social skills amongst a group of peers. Or someone may find success and independence with our community access services, designed to help achieve community goals at each participant's own pace.

For those living at home, Lucasacare East can provide the extra support for continued success within the family residence, with one-on-one staffed care provided through the Michelle P. Waiver's Community Living Support program, available to participants as young as six years old.

Meet Sophie Ann, the real MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) at our Mount Sterling branch! She's our resident therapy-puppy-in-training who's all about getting the job done (in exchange for treats and many pets) 🐾

Her work ethic is outstanding and she shows up every day with a tail wag and that winning smile. You can often find her shooting hoops with her friends, doling out snuggles, or sneaking in a quick power nap in the office.

A little look into June for our day center, including our annual trip to the Newport Aquarium with a special surprise in store for our clients. We will give you all a little hint though: 🐧

We also want to give a huge congratulations to Rebecca Donaldson on her well-deserved promotion to Program Manager, as she has worked tirelessly with her fantastic team to expand our services to the surrounding areas since our day center's inception.

We're forever thankful to our incredible clients, their wonderful families and case managers, our own dedicated team members, and the entire community for believing in us and working with us to achieve nothing short of excellence over the past two years!

We are ready for a fun-filled start to our summer and can't wait to see what next month has in store for our Lucasacare East crew!
