Let’s talk about health for a moment. It’s been a while since I’ve written a post about my huge lifestyle change. A few years ago I had GP doctor I was seeing for random things. I was experiencing horrible eczema on my scalp, gaining weight at a rapid pace, exhausted all the time, had severe pain in my right hip, and generally didn’t feel *right*.
Each time I was told “You’re over 40 so you’re going to (insert issue here) have this now”
It’s so frustrating to be dismissed by a medical professional. I quit going because of this and figured this was my life now.
My sister convinced me to go see Morghan at Chinn GYN. I expected the same but figured I didn’t have much to lose.
I was wrong.
My first visit with Morghan was an hour long. She actually asked me questions and listened. Then she’d ask questions on top of the questions.
I cried
When you’ve been consistently dismissed by “professionals” you start to believe you’re crazy (aka: gaslighting).
Morghan ordered a huge blood panel, there were zero stones left unturned. At my next visit we reviewed the results together and she helped me create a plan.
I started checking things off my list and felt like I had a partner in the process. By early 2021 I knew I had reactive hypoglycemia. That’s when your body produces too much insulin - when I eat bad carbs or bad sugar, my blood sugar goes way down, my body shoots out more insulin to compensate and then I’m hungry again. It’s like a yo-yo 24/7.
I knew the answers of what I had to do but I was not mentally prepared to do it.
⭐️I had to walk away from bad sugar & carbs forever🌟
That’s hard
Sugar is like legal crack and our bodies & brain loves it. Not only that, in American processed food, it’s in EVERYTHING.
July 2021- I weighed 185 pounds. I felt like s**t. I was swollen. I was tired. I was in a fog most of the time. I was not at my best. I looked at my pics from 4th of July and I said “f**k this, I’m quitting sugar”.
And I did.
Was it hard??
YES!!!!
But I met with Morgan a few times, I took medication to help me regulate my blood sugar, I did intermittent fasting, I drank a lot of water, I ate real food, my started eating dairy again, and I don’t eat low-fat.
I never weighed myself. I wasn’t doing it to lose weight, rather I wanted to feel good. Lost weight was just the byproduct of being healthy. This is what I’m supposed to look like.
Guess what …. I no longer have stomach issues, I feel amazing, I look younger, I am not exhausted all day long, my eczema disappeared immediately, and so many other things. Plus I lost 55 pounds!
I’ve posted some before & after pics. This isn’t about me, but it is a story to inspire someone who may need it.
Don’t give up on you!
If you want something, you can do it.
Will it be easy?!
Probably not.
Surround yourself with the people who will help & care. Don’t let others get in your head.
I believe in you. 💗💗💗
Peace & Love 💕
