We CAN for a Van

Here is a quick update about life and the van project.On August 17th, I underwent arthroscopic surgery on my right knee. This is my second tear and second surgery, and it was a bit more complex than the last one. Because of this, I'm currently unable to drive or walk long distances. Meanwhile, Bubba has started school and soccer, which are his top priorities.I am on unpaid FMLA leave for about eight weeks. We still have metal piled up and a lot of cans to go through, but I can't make it out to record. I also can't pack the van and head to the junkyard, which is my absolute favorite part.Since I can't physically work on the project right now, I decided to make the most of my recovery time by starting online classes. I'm officially working toward an associate degree in social work while I heal! I also decided to take on a weightloss challenge and better focusing on my health. I'm really excited for the future. I can't wait to fully heal my knee so we can get back out in the cooler weather and go collecting together.Stay safe, happy, and healthy, my friends. I dont like to ask because this page is for cans/metal/recycling.

But I am having a hard time getting around with my walker. Im unsure of how many stiches I have. Still not coordinated. Does anyone have a wheel chair I can borrow for a week or two?

Surgery was yesterday. Here's some photos of the inside of my knee. Ill be out on a unpaid leave for 6-8 weeks. Was told about a 6 month healing time.

BUT those weeks are not going completely unaccounted for! I started college again! Online courses of course for now. I am working towards an Associates in Sociology 🤗 .

I also have to stay busy or ill go crazy. Using a hard time to build towards a better future!

We still have our can/metal pile. We just added 10 bags to it !

We still have friends, family, etc dropping cans and metals. If you would like to do that please let me know I will have a pallet box moved near the end of my drive way. I do not mind to privately send our address!

Last thanksgiving,

I was in a hurry carrying grocery bags because we ran out of food and people had not been served yet.

I did not see the turkey fryer cord blended with the leaves. I did not have time to fall "safely". I knocked the wind out of myself and laid there for a while. I just had a gut feeling I tore my knee.. again.

I have been actively using my knee with tears and its to the point i sleep on a heated blanket facedown at night because it hurts.

I was scheduled for sugery August 17th to try to repair my knee the best they can and remove a cyst. I have fluid moving through the tears.

With this being said,

I will be back on a walker and unable to collect cans and metals.

This is a long term project and I have to remind myself on it but i cannot collect if I cannot walk. 😅

Friends,

The van is back down :/
I will not be collecting for a few weeks I believe. I have not uploaded any video but im still adding to this junk pile ! Ive been busy we with work and by time I make it home I just throw the metal out on the concrete.

With heat index my van just isnt working.

Thank you all for understanding and being patient. What ever you need hauled please reach out to a local junker. Ive noticed an increase of junkers! With bills and food skyrocketing some People are depending on the metal to pay their bills.

Friends due to a maxed out work schedule and the heat index we will not be out and about collecting
My van has no air and my health comes first :)

Sorry for any inconvenience it can be causing. If you prefer to drop off i have a wooden crate box near our driveway I would be more than happy to privately send the address.

Every one stay safe and hydrated this week and next. Please check on any senior citizens in your area. Make sure they are in cool temps and not in this heat! Watch for signs of heat stroke.

Also if you see electric carts that havent been brought back into the store to charge... bring them in so the ones who need, have it.

I have been finding it hard to find the motivation to collect right now. I wont give out my personal phone number or address so I cannot post in most groups. We was working in alot of towns.

I started frying my brain out about this van, another problem started lol.

I also have started working 6 days a week because at this point I still owe roughly $1700 on the red van then can switch it over. But then have to junk it or sale it.

Some of my clients conditions are requiring more of my mental, emotional, and physical strengths.
Ive been fighting an infection and have inflammation and swelling going on. I didnt get to start antibiotics until yesterday so everytime I empty my bladder still in pain and im very tired.

They say you have to have the heart for this job. My problem is my heart is too big. I was told try not to get attached. I cant imagine life without knowing them. Each one of them I learned so much, laughed so much, even started a plumber apprentice I never signed up for LOL. I exceed the expectations for them because I genuinely care.
I spend holidays with some of them. I bring birthday presents and suprise breakfast. Going through final things with people you get close to it breaks your heart, literally.
This week ive recieved 3 different hugs and 3 different conversations. To hear that they trust me, feel safe with me, make them feel seen and heard. Emotional week. 😢 but that let's me know that ive been doing this right. But kills my heart.

But instead of focusing on the sad stuff...

My husband and I are doing our first garden together. Left is from Sunday and right is from yesterday. Its been so nice seeing something grow. Im thankful for those days. Its nice to see life and beauty in our garden.
