When we arrived at this Macon County property, the homeowner told us the driveway hadn't been worked on in over 30 years. After inspecting it, it was easy to see why it had lasted so long, it had a solid foundation.

The problem wasn't the base... it was years of water erosion.

Instead of covering the problem with fresh gravel, we rebuilt the driveway the right way.
🔹 Raked the entire driveway back down to the original base. 🔹 Re-established a proper crown throughout the driveway to move water off the driving surface. 🔹 Re-shaped the upper entrance so runoff is directed to the sides instead of rushing straight down the center. 🔹 Cleaned and defined the drainage channels along both sides to give water a place to go. 🔹 Compacted the existing base to lock it back together. 🔹 Installed a new base course and compacted it in lifts. 🔹 Finished with a layer of 5/8" white rock, then compacted it for a tight, long-lasting surface.

Every step had a purpose.

A driveway isn't built to hold rock it's built to control
water. When drainage, grading, and compaction are done correctly, the rock stays where it's belongs.

The result is more than just a beautiful driveway. It's a driveway that's built to withstand years of traffic and Illinois crazy weather!

A gravel parking lot isn't fixed by simply dumping more rock into the potholes.

This 3-acre school bus lot is a perfect example of doing it the right way.

Over the years, load after load of CA-6 had been added, but the underlying problems were never corrected. The result? Low spots, standing water, rough driving conditions, and constant maintenance.

Our approach was different.

✔️ Raked the entire lot down to expose the existing base.
✔️ Reworked and redistributed the existing material to establish proper drainage away from the building and toward the edges of the lot.
✔️ Compacted the base to create a solid foundation.
✔️ Installed a new layer of 5/8" aggregate across the entire lot in controlled lifts.
✔️ Compacted each lift to lock everything together for a durable, long-lasting surface.

The difference isn't just how the lot looks it's how it performs. Proper grading and compaction allow water to shed instead of ponding, helping extend the life of the lot and reducing future maintenance costs.

If your gravel parking lot, truck yard, equipment yard, farm lane, or commercial entrance is full of potholes, don't waste money adding another load of rock over the problem. Fix the grade, fix the drainage, and fix it once.
