What makes a good copywriter? 🧐

Hint: it’s more than the ability to look good in nerdy glasses 🤓🤓 (although I do rock that librarian look a lot...😂)

Probably one of the most important traits in a copywriter is the ability to get into our audience’s heads - to understand their motivations, wants and needs. The ability to dig into your business and understand the challenges you face in attracting and converting customers is a close second.

For me, figuring out what will motivate and inspire the customer to take action (and figuring out what might be preventing them from doing so) is the fun part of my job. It’s not just writing copy, it’s content strategy...and sometimes business strategy as well.

People often think that a writer’s job is to put words on a page. Or that the most important qualification is the ability to spell or turn a phrase. But really, those skills are just the beginning. The ability to quickly understand the unique challenges of your business, develop customer insights and put those to work in the content I create is the real value I bring as a copywriter.
