You may not need to panic about your taxes today! A lot of Tennessee counties have an extension until May 22.

If you havent filed yet, message me and we will get you on track to file. Let's not waste these few weeks of extension and end up in the same place on May 22.

If you are not in one of the counties listed below, we are still preparing returns TODAY, and are filing extensions as needed.

23 Counties have an automatic extension until May 22, 2023 for both filing and payments. Affected counties include Cheatham, Chester, Clay, Davidson, Decatur, Dickson, Hardeman, Hardin, Henderson, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Macon, Maury, McNairy, Perry, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Trousdale, Wayne, Williamson, and Wilson.

A lot of people think the extension means they can just keep putting it off.

In reality… this is usually when it finally starts catching up.

If you haven’t filed in a year or a few years, this is probably the best window you’re going to get to deal with it without pressure stacking up.

There has been a lot of confusion around the recent tax deadline extension affecting many Tennessee counties.

Yes - the deadline has been extended to May 22 for those impacted.

However, it’s important to understand that this does not resolve outstanding tax situations — it simply provides additional time to address them properly.

We are continuing to work with individuals and business owners who:

- have not filed yet
- started but got stuck
- or are unsure what needs to be submitted

If your tax return is going on extension, here’s something important to know

An extension gives you more time to file
It does NOT give you more time to pay

If you might owe, the IRS still expects an estimate by April 15 — otherwise penalties and interest can start adding up

This is where a lot of people get caught off guard
