📢🎉Exciting News🎉📢

I have accepted a one-year appointment to teach in the Management Department of the Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University.

I am excited to add academic classroom experience into my career journey, and I am hopeful that my corporate classroom experience can be a benefit to my students as well.

Here's to a successful semester!

I have spoken on "Ethical Leadership" a few times in the last few months, and the topic keeps coming up in some form or fashion in various, random conversations (no, it is not always me that brings it up, either!)

When I share about these 3 moments, though, it always seems to resonate with others in both their personal and professional lives.

Thinking about your own values, the impact a decision will have (on yourself, others, and your organization), and asking questions for clarity can help you build your professional reputation to the point of trust while passing the moments of temptation and testing with flying colors.

Today marks 250 years since the founding of the United States, and my goal is to acknowledge the friction we feel but ground my message in shared potential versus forced cheer.

Our country has always been an unfinished project shaped by disagreements, struggles, AND a constant striving to do better.

As we celebrate this semiquincentennial holiday weekend, let us all...
- Remember that the future of this country isn't just written for us. It is written by us.
- Listen more, strive for better understanding, and continue to build a community we are all proud to be a part of.

For over 150 years, Americans have been laying flowers and flags on the graves of fallen service members - originally known as Decoration Day. 💐🇺🇸

Wanting to do something to honor this Memorial Day?
Consider one of these options:
⭐Attend a local remembrance ceremony or visit a veterans cemetery
⭐Observe the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 PM local time
⭐Support organizations that assist Gold Star families

Sometimes, all you need is a little creative inspiration from a little collaboration.

I was honored to be invited to speak today to a class of college seniors in the HR Management program at MTSU's Jones College of Business as part of Ethical Leadership Week.

We focused on "3 Moments That Define An Ethical Leader".
1️⃣ When you are tempted
2️⃣ When you are tested
3️⃣ When you are trusted

Thank you to Dr. Kristie Abston for inviting me into her class and to her students for their engagement.
Thank you to Dr. Kelly Manix for hosting an incredible week of activities and allowing me to be a part of it (and the reserved parking spot, and the swag!)

If only...

If only we could approach Mondays with as much joy as my dogs have for a pup cup…

If only we could give as good a "side eye" to rude people as my dog gives me for no reason…

If only we could get as comfortable EVER as these two get on the regular...

That's my two cents for .

Many organizations I have worked with tout the inclusion of Tuition Reimbursement in their benefits package. While this is a great benefit to some, Employee Development funds should not be allocated only for degree-seeking employees.

Many employees are looking for development opportunities through certifications or other short-form learning (e.g., workshops, boot camps, conferences).

As someone who earned a Master's degree paid for by a tuition reimbursement program ($ amount based on grade), I know first-hand the incredible benefit this is.

However, in the last 10 years, I have seen the downside to not offering financial assistance to those seeking development within their more specific career path or area of interest, which could have benefited the organization as well.

Have you committed Tsundoku?

I have! 🤚
As this picture shows, I have committed Tsundoku, the Japanese word for buying books and leaving them unread, in both digital and hard copy form. [Also often referred to as a to-be-read (tbr) list.]

🌟 The Good News: It is often viewed as an affectionate term, a "library of potential" versus something shameful or to feel guilty about.

What a mindset! I will continue to grow my library of potential as well as my finished library. 😁
