I’m going to say this and please share. Yes we own Hill Electric. Yes we would love to have your business but if we don’t that won’t upset us.

What I do ask is that you 100% make sure the person working on your home can show your their electrical license with the State of Ky (one person on site MUST have a Electrical License) and also a Contractors license. It is required by law that the person doing the work has to be on SITE to do electrical work on someone’s home or business.

Secondly ask to see the commercial insurance showing any work they do for you is covered if they damage or do something wrong. Your insurance company will not cover damage they do if they find out they don’t have a license. (We have seen it happen to local people) just because they have a building with their name on it or a post on Facebook does not mean they are sending you an electrician with a license.

Lastly don’t get overcharged because you are in a bind. Make sure you get a detailed estimated price before they do the work and if they say they have to do something diffferent and it will be more ask them to explain before doing it. Had a customer call crying because another company had told them around $2000 to do the work and they got a bill for $8000! Depending on size of a service it should be less than $3000. Usually a lot less but I will give some wiggle room.

I just want my friends and everyone NOT to BE taken advantage of during these hard times and to be safe. Someone told me well they bill more when the insurance is paying but that should not be the case!!

Let’s talk about a Whole House Surge Protector! Less than a $500 deductible!! This tree was hit by lightning and it traveled through the breaker panel and damaged TVs, appliances and several other items.

Just a update on the current events. We have several people with services damaged by trees falling, being hit by lightning or wind damage. Please call us if you need anything but understand we will not be sending our electricians out into to the rain or dangerous weather or circumstances. With that said PLEASE do two things for us.

1) Avoid driving around those areas with damage it will put the workers and first responders at even more of a hazard. Trust me there will be pictures on Facebook.

2. If you need a plumber, electrician, or any other trade please verify their license and make sure the person doing the work has a license and insurance. Make sure to get a upfront guesstimate. A electrical service should not be more then $2500 or so. I just received a call a local company charged someone $6000. That is ridiculous even if it insurance. Then when I tell them person doing the work was not licensed they really lost their minds.

Let’s talk ceiling fans today! Everyone knows how they help in the summer but did you know they could help you save as much as 15% on heating cost during the winter months. Turn you fan on clockwise and on low so it can push the heat down.

Sadly crime is up! You can watch the news, read the paper, or talk to friends and know that more and more robberies are occurring. Having a alarm system is great however it doesn't take pictures of the actual people stealing from you. After being stolen from we decided to look into camera systems. We are excited to say that because of the cameras to criminals have been arrested and facing criminal charges. Contact us about our new camera systems. We have hired a low voltage camera/video expert to help us improve this area of our business. You have the cameras~ no problem we will install.
