The last thing you want to be doing in winter is worrying about the state of your company’s roof. A proper semi-annual roof maintenance will help avoid any surprises in the upcoming winter rainy season.

Clues in the ceiling:

Water leaks – Be on the lookout for water stains on your ceiling, walls, and floor.

Animal damage – birds and other small animals, such as bats, squirrels, and raccoons, can wreak havoc in your attic or ceiling space . If you see any nests or droppings (they don’t have to be fresh) or signs of gnawing on wood, insulation, or wires, contact CCN Group Inc. immediately.

Structural damage – if you see any visible damage, such as sagging in the roof, schedule a roof inspection and repair as soon as possible.

Signs on the roof:

Roof damage – look for patches of loose or missing roofing; these are areas where your roof is vulnerable to the elements. Depending on the material your roof is made from, look for curling, cracking, and loss of granules (for asphalt shingles) or cracking/ holes in the material (for tile and metal).

Shingle granules – specific to asphalt shingles. If you’re seeing a lot of shingle granules in your downspouts and gutters, your shingles are likely near the end of their lifespan and need to be replaced.

Damaged or missing flashing – CCN’s team will check around chimneys, roof vents, roof windows, and skylights for cracks or gaps in the flashing.

The top 5 sings that indicate you need to contact a plumber.

1. Slow drain: The reason varies. It could be a simple clog that won't drain properly, or it could be something much worse. Waiting or "ignoring" the problem puts you at risk for unnecessary pipe damage and costly repairs.

2. Gurgling pipes: Another draining issue, this typically occurs while a shower or washer is in use. However there are instances when toilets that are not in use gurgle.

3. Brown water: Brown water emerging from your faucet is never a good sign. There are many factors that come to play with this, such as: a change in water pressure, a broken water main or too much dislodged iron in the water line.

4. Low pressure: Low water pressure is typically caused by the screen or aerator in the faucet when solids or other deposits in the water line clog. This is typically an easy fix, but left as is can cost you in repairs.

5. Running water: Is your toilet running while it's not in use? You need to seek immediate help for this issue because this can indicate a leak. Left untreated and you could suffer water damage throughout your store or office. Water damage on top of repairs will cost you an arm and a leg!
