This is the last piano that we have rebuilt. It was a year-long process. It’s stood on its side for over 50 years. The lid was blistered and peeling. The key cover and music desk and lyre were missing. It is a 1910, 7’4”, concert grand made by the Chase Bros. Piano Company and made in Muskegon, Michigan.
It has a mahogany veneer. We believe that it is Honduras mahogany. We figured the weight to be about 1400 pounds. Pianos like this are not made anymore. The Chase and Hackley pianos were meant to last for generations. You can see the thickness (4”) of the support system under the piano. The posts of the legs are about 5” in diameter! Each leg system has two casters. The soundboard was restored, a new pin block installed, new strings and new pins, and many other parts were refurbished, restored, or replaced. It now resides in a home in a nearby town. As always it was a labor of love!💕🎶
